Default ThunderTiger P15 turbine spare parts problem

Hi guys,

a friend bought a thundertiger P15 turbine a while back. It was an exposition version from a shelf with some internal parts missing.
He has now decided to get the turbine in a running condition and is looking for spare parts. Unfortunately ThunderTiger in Taiwan apparently cannot sell directly to the customer, and the german distributor does not seem interested in ordering the correct parts for him in any way, he is now looking for another place to buy the stuff.

What he needs are the entire combustion chamber (inner and outer ring, parts number 14 and 15 in the manual) as well as the exhaust guide vanes, part number 16. Attached you will find some photos of these parts.

If anybody knows of a place where these can be obtained from please let me know :-)

Thanks a lot in advance
Best regards
Hank

Is there really noone with information or contacts to a TT-distributor who might be able or willing to sell parts?

Best regards

I've honestly never heard of anyone owning and running one of the thundertiger turbines, I don't personally even know that they ever made it to production.

I don't think these turbines were ever offered into the TT sales channel, therefore there might not be any spares parts in any distribution channel.

I recall a promotional photo that was on the TT web site in the '98 - '00 time frame, but no production engine. I seem to recall someone saying, probably here or on the ol' Jets List, that the photo was of a TT prototype, but that they decided not to pursue production.

I remember seeing this on display in the TT booth at the Toledo Expo many years ago. Probably the same one your friend has purchased. Finding parts for that would be like trying to find an original Picasso...actually you would probably have better luck finding a Picasso.

Accually the turbine comes from a model shop in Sidney as i recall...

He has contacted ThunderTiger directly, as well as the european/german distributor (thanks for the effort though EagleDriver :-) ).
ThunderTiger in Taiwan has the parts (thats where the posted pictures came from) all in stock, but is apparently not able to sell directly to the customer.
ThunderTiger Europe in turn has no interest in supplying those parts, or in ordering them from taiwan (for whatever reason...apparently they are not interested in making money). They have some other parts as well as another turbine he would be willing to sell at a horrendous price, but not the support my mate was hoping for.

Basically the big "part" is finding an official ThunderTiger distributor that would be willing to order the spare parts with his next order.....a small task that seems to be impossible. Also the reason why i'm trying it here on RCU, there always seems to pop up a contact or a solution.

Thanks again and best regards
Hank

Hello all

Although it's an old post I thought would be of interest to say that the P-15 engine was indeed a commercial engine, went into production and was sold worldwide.

I my city, Madrid-Spain, there is a shop that still has a new one on the shelf, at a nice price of 2000 euro or similar.... Still with the same price as nearly 8 years ago when I first saw it in the shop.

The shop owner gave me the opportunity to make lots of photos, including some photos with one of my jpx engines side by side to compare size.

That is the only p-15 I have ever seen, and your friends engine is the first one I have heard off in private hands.

This evening I will post some photos of the engine for the people who might be interested.

If this turbine is from Sydney Australia, it came from Kelletts Hobbies. I sold it to him, it was in our display case for years and as I understand it never went into production but, there were several pre-production models that were run. The remnants of these turbines were them shipped to some Thunder Tiger distributors world wide.
