Bill & Eric,
I'll be following right along with you! Mine will have twin Rhinos though. I think the F-15's got shipped today. I hope!
Eric, I'll be sending the Rhinos to the factory for matching next week!

Bill,
Hmmm...so if your shop is full...does that mean he has to sit outside the door and peer inside occasionally from his bar stool? Being a swabbie...he should be pretty adept at getting you coffee too!
Oh...the decisions...the decisions!

Bevar, he is good at handing me tools sometimes. He does sometimes come up with some good ideas. I have a list of his Ideas on a note pad in the shop. I will be building my FEJ F-18 at the same time so my shop will be full.

Bevar, here is s shot of Eric getting his seat warmed up for the F-15 build. I do sometimes let him in the shop when I need a hand moving somthing but as you can see he is in the driveway looking in. He was over today for the first fun of a new Rhino in the AT3 I just finnished for a friend of mine.

Bill:
Thanks for posting this great picture.
Bevar:
Actually, I am talking with you when this picture was snapped. I am perched on my bar stool waiting patiently while Bill check's things out just prior to turning over the initial start of the Rhino to me. Start up went absolutely perfect. . .fuel system checks OK. . .heat distribution checks OK and I pronounced the AT-3 RTF !
Bill is what I call a builder extraordinaire. . .it has to be right or it is redone. Bill keeps a small 5 x 7 pad with each build and documents each idea I give him which he ultimately uses. On this build, he logged 6 ideas. He is a great guy and we are a great team.
Cheers,
Eric

It's HERE. . .Two huge boxes; one from DHL and the other via EMS. Took almost 5 hours to unpack. You just have to see this jet to absorb its size and the quality of work that has gone into it. For sure, they take great pains to pack so no damage occurs. No more popcorn. . .no sir, not for FEJ. Serious foam. . .high density energy absorbing foam. Kept larger pieces as pads for the work bench.
The ordinance is beyond comprehension. Bill and I spent over an hour just unpacking and carefully removing the bubble wrap.
No damage other than a broken pilot seat which we can repair. Canopy latch mechanism is different that the F-18 and works well.
Will post pictures tomorrow around 12 noon Florida time. Build has started. Pictures and comments to follow.
Now, just waiting for the Camo twin with nozzles to be shipped.

Yes, had to sign for both EMS and DHL. Both drivers are the very same who I have dealt with over the past 6 years.
DHL box had a hole poked through. the driver noted it and I signed for it. No damage to any part what so ever. FEJ's packing system is as near perfect as could be expected.
Congrats on the purchase of your Falcon. Email me the serial number so I can check warranty status. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask. Let me know if all parts are there per the manual. [email protected]
Thanks. . .pictures at 12 noon today.

Ok, you have seen the pictures on post number one. . .now for the "real deal." I am posting the pictures as a group and will respond to questions as you present them. Fuel tanks have been measured. Each saddle tank holds 78 oz of fuel with the center tank holding 84 for a total of 240 oz. For single operation this give you more than enough for 8+ minutes of flying. For twin operation assuming your twin selection use 14oz each, you are good for 8.5 minutes till dry or a 7 minute flight.
Thanks,
Bill and Eric

Hi Eric, yes I have a question, has any consideration been given to the main undercarriage “stance” as I can see from the original pictures and these new ones that the u/c legs protrude from the fuselage vertical. On the full size the legs are angles out and the wheels angled in producing a wider track.
As many flyers will know with model F15s they tend to be inherently unstable on the ground, this situation will be made worse with a non scale narrow track.
Therefore the first job I intend to carry out on mine (when it arrives) will be to see if it’s possible to cant the retract units “out” from the centreline, what do you think?

The FEJ gear looks very close to the above picture. On website it is show with a slight cant outward.

I did that on my small FEJ F-15 - it improved ground handling a lot. Unfortunately not enough to make up for the loose nose gear, but its worth a try on this model if it can be done and still clear the doors...

Is that simply moving the mounting plate for gear?? or is something else required??

Can you let me know what the internal quality is like? Have they used correct grade ply for various areas?
I am still trying to get a shipping date []

Wow all I can say is even you guy's should be able to see that Big Beautiful machine as it goes Vertical. No doubt your planning something obscene to power her.
That has got to be the nicest F15e I've scene. Most models never duplicate the E version.
Now we have to Fly some formation.

Maybe the pictures look misleading, but the mains look like they are located very close together, and too far from the edge of fuse. Am I seeing this right?

RE: FEJ F-15 1/7th build- Bill & Eric
All formers are from what looks to be 5/32 ply of an unknown thickness due to laser cutting. The formers have been lightened. Stand alone formers / bulkheads give the effect of being undersize however, when you bring to the picture the additional trays etc, and Hysol them in, the structure then becomes strong. Engine rails are to be installed. We will replace exhisting rails supplied with 1/4 ply from Midwest. These will be secured with Hysol. Tank shelf will be secured as well with Hysol.
Landing gear mounting plates are 1/4 inch for the mains and 3/8 inch for the nose gear. Again, the combined strength of the complete assembly is very good.
We are going over what we feel are the stress areas with Hysol just for additional insurance.
Removed all cylinders for "underwater" leak testing which we will do tomorrow.
Bill spent most of the afternoon drilling holes (2 per each side of the hinge) using 2mm button head screws and lock nuts to secure the hinges in case the epoxy style adhesive should break loose. 60 button head and lock nut combo's. A team of two made this job go much quicker with one on each side of the fuse!
Landing gear. . .Yes, straight legs on the mains. We are going to shim the inside mounts to cant them outward for a "wider track." Will take pictures while upside down before and after to show the result.
Prepping and painting the interior tomorrow then the build starts with wings, ailerons, flaps, rudders / servos.
Using 8711 on the stabs and Hitec 7955 on flaps. 8611 elsewhere except nose gear steering.
More pictures to come as we proceed.
