I believe that in Canada you do not need a waiver. In order to fly in the US you will need a letter of proficiency. This can be obtained through MAAC. It involves proving you are capable of safely starting and flying a turbine aircraft.

Default Turbine Waiver

Phew!!!!

I am in the midst of getting my turbine project started and after reading some of the info here I was getting a little worried that a turbine would not have been possible. I am definetly planning on flying in some US events. I was going to go at the liberty bell event but unfortunetly it's not in the cards. But I do have my eye on some others. If a letter of proficiency is all I need for a US event then it should not be a problem and the turbine project will proceed.

thank you for the info.

Default Turbine Waiver

Very well said realdeal.

Does anyone keep a record of how many people actually fail to get there turbine waiver by not being able to pass all of the written and flying test?? If there are a low percentage of failures then this could be further evidence that the turbine wavier process is an over kill.
