Default Which fan for JJH F-86?

I have an older version of the JJH F-86 and an OS 65df. I know that I would probably be better off getting a brand new DFVR engine but I've got a budget (and a wife) that won't permit me to do this at the moment. I have a TurbaxIII fan but I was talking to a guy at my local hobby store the other day and he said that the turbax fans don't create enough thrust and that I should get a dynamax fan. I would like some opinions as to what I should do - I'm almost at the point of mounting the fan and I'm having second thoughts now.

Thanks for the help!

Chris

Default JHH F-86

There are a lot of these flying around just fine with Turbax fans and K&B 45s. The thrust is sufficient.

You got bad info. Turbax fans have been successfully pushing JHH F-86 Sabres around the sky for for decades. An OS 65 VRDF in a Turbax III will make your Sabre honk! Just make sure you get enough fuel onboard.

Default F86

I am installing a new OS 46 VX and Turbax I in my Sabre. I have seen the plane fly with this motor and the K&B 48 and it really moved out. You will have no problem with your set up, it will really rock.

Hi,

I got similiar information whenI build mine about ten years ago. i put an OS .77 VRDF in a Dynamax fan. It mover pretty good! (grin).

There is enough room for the sulllivan saddle tanks on either side of the DynaMax, so I know they will fit with the Turbax. YOu will love the OS .65 . It's a real sweet engine.

The JHH F-86 is one of those planes that still meets the goal of maximizing your fun/dollar ratio. It flies all day long and is just about as simple to maintain as a sport prop model. I bet you'll have a blast with yours. BTW, Larry is still one of the best in terms of customer support.
