He's a true craftsman. I can't wait to put on the pitot tube he made for me. As soon as I finish the lights on my Hawk(hopefully tomorrow)I'm doing the pitot.

Guys
Thanks for the compliments
Just a load of patience and wanting to get things perfect (ask Marc). When I make anything I always want to get so it looks like it was manufactured professionally not in a back garden shed! The down side is as you all know it takes time to complete, my Hawk NAV light sets I make do take many hours to put together and I have done 6 sets now for other people including my jet.
All I want now is some damp free weather to continue with re-painting the Hawk! I need to spend at week at Stan's house in AZ

Alan,
I think most of us aim for the professionally manufactured look unfortunately it doesn't always end up that way at least in my case.
Kenrico, I'll post some pics when I'm done. Alan has posted pics of his lights in the thread and that would be a good reference.

That can be arranged. Let me know when you will be in the States again.

RE: Comp ARF BAE Hawk build thread
I finished the lights and Alan's pitot install. I tried to do the nav lights similar to the T-45. Since the Goshawk has clipped wings, I used the 'looks about right" method Need to do paint and body work around the nav lights but since I had to put the plane together to get the pitot installed, I figured I would just do the little video while it's together. Please excuse the shakey camera phone work. It's kind of tight in my little workroom when I have a plane fully assembled.

I'm looking for an alternative to Details4scale for a Hawk light kit. I have a second CARF here to put together in Red Arrows scheme. Please let me know of a good source, and Alan if you're looking to sell yours commercially shoot me a pm with a price on that and the pitot.
Thanks
Mike

Would need to check ECU. 200ish. Not a huge amount, but she was one of a dozen jets and they all got shared time. Now I'm cutting down she can have some more use!

Hey Rich,
Thanks. They are Luxeon Rebel led's (http://www.luxeonstar.com/Luxeon-Rebel-LEDs-s/1.htm). This is one of the few places that sell them individually. You can find them on ebay sometimes also. The controller board was mad by Bob K. The lenses were made with the "heated clear plastic pushed over a mold" method.
How is yours going?
Marty

I've slowly added scale detail over the last 4 years, the cockpit has been on my list, there is part of a $250 pilot in there!

RE: Comp ARF BAE Hawk build thread
Does anyone know how to get an Air-tech cylinders apart without destroying it? When I first received mine last May, I had blowby in the nose cylinder and Erwin was great sending me a new cylinder. Now I have a leak in the same cylinder when the gear is up. Like I said, Erwin sent me a new one last year when I just got the kit and I did ask him how to take it apart but he didn't tell me. I worked on the old one last year a little but couldn't get it apart. I guess I'll try a little more now but just wondering if anyone has already done it. Thanks.

RE: Comp ARF BAE Hawk build thread
I tried it right after I posted the question on the old cylinder with a heat gun and still couldn't get it off. Just to be clear, it's the square end that screws off correct? Thanks.
Ok, nevermind. I just got back home and grabbed the new one that is leaking and opened it by hand with barely any effort and the old one which has the red end wouldn't come off with a torch[:@].

RE: Comp ARF BAE Hawk build thread
Yep just like that easy I just replaced the small o-ring that the piston rod goes through as it exits the cylinder(Thanks to Erwin for sending spare o-rings last year with the replacement cylinder). Pressure testing it as I type this and it looks good so far. By the time I realized why it was leaking this afternoon, I had to take my son to his hockey game and I didn't realize that the new cylinders were hand tightened as opposed to the old ones. I think the old one is CA'd or something. I was posting at the game asking how to open it thinking about the old one. Anyway, thanks for everyone's help.
