No and to be honest it's had plenty of bumps in my workshop as it hangs from the roof, I made the wing fences out of fibre glass and used a good fillet of Hysol to glue them on first sanding paint off etc
Think I went with their largest size, service was also excellent from from your side of the pond to the UK

Alan

wing tote you also can fit in LE infact whole bag unzips

ideas?
POP in Germany and Aerotec in the UK make bags you post the whole wing into LE first. This protects the fences.

Flying the Red Arrows hawk at Wingham yesterday. Photo by RcPete.

Note: this is the first time that I've tried diesel in the Cheetah. It's got about 18hrs of Jet A through it. The diesel ran absolutely perfect, the only difference that I could notice was some smoke on shutdown. Throttle response was exactly the same after the initial start when the ECU had to recalibrate itself for diesel.

I think I'm hooked, buy it at the corner gas station, no smell and way cheaper than Kero or Jet A. Going to try it in my Jetcats next and see if I get the same results.

Bought my Hawk second hand and it seems quite noseheavy with all batteries upfront.

Can anyone please confirm my finger is pointed to the place where I measure CG?
Think I will start at 195mm and try a bit longer aft after first flights

Had my Hawk out at Wingham also. What a nice flying plane. My CG is moved back from the recomended and now it lands like a putty cat at a walking pace.

Thanks for the pic RC Pete.

I have been flying the Hawk with my CG at 198 and it has been awsome!!! Flies great and lands at a walking pace.

When I first tried it here, I thought maybe I was pushing it too much but yesterday I had an interesting thing happen.

I usually put my nose weight in with GOOP so if I need to take it out, I soak it with gas and the goop lets go. Well I had a fuel leak and the goop softened. During my take off I saw something round rolling on the gound. At first I thought maybe a tire, but all tires were there. My lead nose weight fell out!!!! I did the entire flight with 1 1/4 lbs out of the nose with my original CG at 198. I can only guess how far back my CG was for that flight. So I can assume the 198 is still conservative....

Flown one back to 210mm...
The Hawk is a strange one with a huge balance range!

Gary, how was the flight and especially the landing with all that nose weight out? I'm just in the middle of re-balancing mine after some nose body work and I installed a different nose steering servo that is about 3/4 ounce heavier than the previous one. I'm aiming for somewhere between 195-200.

It was interesting. I usually take of with a very shalow climb while I retract the gear. With 1 1/4 lbs out of the nose, it took of very steep. The first turn, the nose was staying high. After pushing the nose down, it flew ok but had a tendency to keep climbing. Nothing unmanagable, just wanted to climb. The landing was also very nose high. But this tells me that with a CG of 198, it is not too agressive since with an extra 1 1/4 lbs out I could still fly it. I should have checked where CG was with the weight out but I have laready reinstalled it.

Mike (Luv2flyrc) has also moved his CG back to where mine is and he really enjoys the flight characteristics. He has moved both of his hawks to this CG...

Default aileron servos installation

Just started assemble mine.
I'm using Align DS 610 servos on ailerons but they didn't fit inside, it seems they are wider them wing height. Should I use the provided spacers?

Its designed for a 19mm wide servo like an 8411. The wood you have is provided to go under the lip that's there, but you could use it to pack down the hatch...but there would be a step.

My servos are 20mm wide.
Do you allow any gap between the servo and the corver?

No, the servo side sits on the cover. If you trim the lip and move the servo as far forward as possible it might fit. Will only be one edge that hits.

What would cause the brass pin/rod that the retract pivots on to shift aft? What holds these in? One of mine works it's way part out and binds up the strut cover and almost resulted in a gear up landing. Help!

German engineering at its most basic. There are different versions, but pin dents hold some. Take it out, clean it and loctite it to the yoke. A little heat and a push will get it out again

It's a little too loose for loctite - I may just put a dab of silicone on each end if it doesn't need to turn

Smitty, mines have a set screw on the inside part of the trunion that hold the pin in place.

Well, I don't mind doing that either - seems easy enough? Both sides of the frame or just one? Can you snap a quick pic?

Guys, thanks a million for the help! I'm an idiot - totally see the set screw and it was backed out a few turns but still there.
Thanks so much! The universe is still very helpful!
