Finally, is there any consensus on mounting those Hawk "rabbit ear" scoops? Should we cut holes in the fuse to allow air in from the scoops? Or should we leave the fuse intact and if so, block off the front of the scoops with some black ply or just leave them open and hope the airflow doesn't rip them off? Thanks!

Yes, they were not originally in the kits when they first came out. I believe that Dave Wilshere sourced the first ones and provided them back to CARF and then they were included. You could get them from Dave before they came in the kit, so perhaps he can still get you some...

I bought my Hawk in 2012 and at that time they were coming with the kit. Even though I bought it in 2012, it was a 2010 production which was sitting in the warehouse for a long time so I emailed my Carf rep and explained why my kit didn't have them in the box and he put a "no charge" order in to Carf for them. They showed up about six weeks later in my mailbox.

Had a great weekend with the old girl this weekend, the original CARF manual Hawk still flys as good as it did when this thread started.

That scheme looks great against the blue background! Still believe that the CARF hawk is still one of the best 1/5 available :-)
The pitot tube looks good!

Got 4 more flights on my Hawk today in big winds. I had 37 1/2 hours on my first Cheetah (how many Hawk flights is that?) and finally sent it in for its 25 hour service. Hmmm. So I popped my second Cheetah in there today and it ran like a champ. Last week, before this swap, I flew it a ton at "Best In The West" and it was amazing how much people enjoyed the 2010 Display Scheme, it is a looker for shure! And of course the Hawk flies like a dream. So I haven't contributed much lately but rest assured I have been flying the snot outta this plane over the last year. It is one sweet jet.

I got a plaque for "Best Military Jet Performance" at a recent jet event in Lodi, CA last weekend with my 2010 display scheme Hawk. I was thrilled! Everybody loves the Hawk with that color scheme (and of course getting it down on the deck). I don't think I could have made better choices for my first jet and I owe some of you on this site a heartfelt thanks. In all that time the the jet has been superb, the gear has been flawless, approx. 170 flights now in a little over a year. Flew it a dozen times during the two day event. In all that time I have had one flame out between my two Cheetah's, and one pilot induced snap roll resulting in an upside down landing on my 16th flight due to me flaring to a 45 degree nose high landing attitude 3 feet off the ground, do not do that! There is definitely a limit to the flare attitude you should allow when landing the Hawk, it is not an F16... But replacement parts from CARF are inexpensive and readily available, it is a tough bird and can take a lot of punishment and can be repaired.
As for the rabbit ears they are simple enough to mount. stick em where you want them and use a dry erase type marker to outline. Grind or file away a bit of the underlying paint inside that edge. I tacked mine in place with thin CA and made a filet of Hysol inside to fix them in place and avoid any CA runs on my beautiful finish. Then mask the edge 3mm or so either side with green 3M auto trim masking tape ( the thin width goes around corners easily). Airbrush with CARF touch up paint. Done! I stuffed some black foam into them that fills them and so you don't see a dumb white scoop to no where inside there. I did not cut holes into my fuselage to create working scoops, absolutely no need IMHO.

I've been asked about cockpits. The Derjet one needs the front trimming like this to clear the nose unit and servo. (Two holes at bottom are for full body pilots legs!
