Who makes F-86 turbine kit besides BVM
Trim makes a sweet/beautiful sabre kit too man and its slight bigger than the bvm too.And much cheaper 899.00 with the stainless pipe, panel lines and all too!!
I am seriously considering getting me one real soon myself,if you go the bvm route you can expect to pay approx. $1295.00 plus the pipe ,altho bv's is about 90% complete @ that price. It comes down to your budget & you level of building expertise.Hope this helps my friend

There really isn't a good comparison between the Trim and the JHH Sabre. The Trim Sabre is a little larger than the BVM and a LOT larger than the JHH. Extremely nice fit of all parts, quality throughout. The Trim can easily handle an 18 LB thrust turbine which is really a more common size (usable on many more than just one jet). In my opinion, the quality of the Trim components is among the best there is. The Trim is a far newer design than the JHH and due to it's size, it is far easier when it comes time to install all the internals. The size of the Trim will also support a lot of scale detailing without the wing loading getting ridiculous.

Thanks guys. Right now we are evaluating the trim F86, looks good and price is reasonable. I got out of jets back in the early 80's so not up to date on what is available. Jeff W.

Shaun
the trim sabre is alot bigger than the JHH one(too small for my taste @ approx. 50x50) & the trim F86 is even bigger than the BVM one. It is approx. 62" ws & 63" length!! and the price is a bargain @ 899.00 with SS pipe included, even get all hardware/rods & wheels even!! I will own me one in the very near future. Its a beautiful kit and goes together very well and flies sweet everyone says.As far as the manual & actual building goes I cant attest to that.I just hear all in all its goes together relatively easy/straight forward, biggest downfall I hear about it is that you have to convert everything pretty much from mm's
BTW shaun, got the turbine yesterday-looks great, thanks my friend

Sabre Jet
Jeff,
The BVM Sabre has the "Advanced Fabrication" where the wings/stabs are sheeted and hinged. If you want to know more just click on the link - http://www.bvmjets.com/JetKits/f-86sabre.htm .
Best regards,
David Shulman

Trim versus Other Sabres
Hi Shaun
Neither Kevin nor I have built either the Trim, BVM or JHH Sabre. We've gone through all three kits and each has its pluses and minuses. All three are good kits and each appeals to a different level and type of modeller.
We have a number of the Trim kits being built out there and have had very positive feed back on them. We haven't built one up due to time constraints. Once things calm down a little around here, we'll get one going.
Sincerely,
Ed

I looked at the BVM kit at their website and have seen them at meets. I feel I have enough knowledge on the BVM, I just wanted to know what else it out there to give every available model a fair chance as to what is best for us. I have to admit I am not in touch with the jet set anymore. I am an IMAC/3D flier that is in a position to get a jet with a friend, so I really appreciate all of your help/input. We will probably purchase this fall but wanted to get information now for evaluation. I hope to make Superman again this fall and see some others besides BVM, not that theirs is not great. Jeff W.

F86
I have seen dozens of Trim F86's over the years, good value and they are great fliers with MW54/ 12 lb thrust size turbines. I would personally go with one of these if this is the size turbine you want. If you want a larger F86 I believe BVM is also bringing out a larger version soon as well, although I am not sure as to when or price?
I own and fly a Fiber Classics F86 with a TJT 3000 detuned to 20 lb thrust. This model was originally designed around a 90 size D/F set up and was flown by Wolfgang Klur to first place at the first World Jet Masters with a Sophia J850 I believe. So this model is also a viable option for a variety of turbine choices.
The quality of the composite glass work and scale surface detail right out of the box is second to none and it does fly extremely well. The instructions are a little vague and if you are an inexperienced builder it may leave you scratching your head at times. That said I can highly recommend the Fiber Classics F86, I think it is also the largest production kit of an F86 kit as well...
