Cool!!...I would guess that the purpose behind all of the hardware hangin' out in the breeze is to keep the engine RPM/thrust up in case of a bolter/go around...With that much out there you would have to keep the throttle higher just to keep the airspeed up...And you would have the thrust there when you needed it if you had to go full throttle for a missed approach/go around...(Less time for the engine to have to spool up.)

You would also have finer throttle control to adjust the rate of descent...
Am I correct???

Yup, ur EXACTLY correct, give the man a cigar!!

The navy jets, especially, need lots of drag so that the engine is spooled for immediate go-around. Otherwise the spool time from idle would have been deadly.

I flew the F-94C and it had 4 speed brake doors also. As stated you needed more power on final with the doors out and we always landed with full doors. If I remember correctly it took about 75% power on final with full flaps, full doors and gear down.

For go around your left hand was on the throttle, so full power and close the speed brakes simultaeneously, then reach for the gear handle and gear up if your descent was zero or climbing. Then full flap retraction.

Its a good feeling to be way up on the throttle on final. When i deploy this mess it requires 70% stick to get me in the slot on final. Most times i touch down with 25% throttle still on. You don`t need and SE motor to do a smooth go around and landings can be very predictable once the throttle starts coming back.

On that plane though wouldn't they be worried about those rear doors striking the deck on touchdown? Looks like it would be awfully close!!

Hi Marty:
Good question, You know I like the F-86 a lot, but I think this plane is so much prettier than the F-86, I have ask Anton and or Fly Eagle to do the plane and know one does it, There are as many color schemes for this plane as the F-86, And the wing shape is awesome
