Default Carbon Fiber Rod Ends

OK Gent's.

I have used these before but I can't find them on line. It's the nice little barbed on one end, 4-40 threaded on the other. Made of titanium. Makes a real good push-rod. You just mix up some JB weld and smear it on the barbed end and slide it into the Carbon tube. If anyone knows where you can get them, please let me know.

Thanks Roy

Roy, I make my own carbon fiber push rod by just using the 4-40 threaded rod and JB Welding the threaded rod into the tube. Works just fine and saves the expense of the fancy end pieces.

John, I have done the same but I just really like those titanium rod ends. I have even made the things on one of my lathes but after four in a row 1/3 scale builds I'm cutting corners! Ha. Just still want them to be neat!!! Thanks John for the come-back

EDIT: Wow 3 at a time.

BTW I also wrap the end of the tube with CF tow, I have seen them split.

Just a FWIW,

Have you ever tried to bend up on the JB welded 4-40 rod? The poltruded carbon rods have the carbon running lengthwise and split very easily. I preffer to find the right size K&S aluminum tubing to fit outside diameter of rod, cut a 1/4" ring and fit over rod near end and CA it to carbon for safe measure to keep from splliting.

FWIW II

If it is titanium you desire, you can find titanium tie rod ends for R/C cars at considerable savings and tons available online and Ebay, They even have much longer lengths than you can buy at Central. even larger sizes metric and standard even heavy duty ball links.

Here's a link to several Hangar 9 items: [link=http://www.troybuiltmodels.com/ns/acce/hardware/linkages/]Titanium turnbuckles[/link]. I think these items can be ordered from Horizon Hobbies as well ... http://www.horizonhobby.com/

And c/f's idea <cut a 1/4" ring and fit over rod near end and CA it to carbon for safe measure to keep from splliting> got my attention - what a great idea. Thanks! [8D]
