Aviation Design F-100 Pics
I finally completed my Aviation Design F-100 and we put the first flight on it Sunday. It is a great flying plane with excellent flight and landing characteristics. Mine has been modified some to incorporate a rudder, flaps, and other modifications. It is painted to replicate a silver lacquer finish with a bare metal hot section. The pictures are taken at the airport where we fly...Gary

Let's ask Mike to take a video of the 100 flying next weekend and put it on you tube. Then put a link to it in a message here. The first flight was really cool. It looks awsome in the air. Great sound too. And you nailed the landing!

Congratulations Gary, your new 100 looks really nice. You will love flying the AD 100, they fly awesome just watch the speed (very fast jet) they can get away really fast and the grey gets a bit hard to see when she's far away. Again congrats on your beautiful new model...

Terry, we just have to remind Mike to bring the video camera.
That is why I chose a scheme with yellow wing tips and tail and also installed the large wing tanks. It had really good visibility in the air and I was very comfortable flying the F-100 on the first flight. Mine may not be as fast as some since I am running the large wing tanks but I have a P-120 SX installed pushing 30lbs thrust to help out on the top end!!

You'll love to fly this model, it flies like a trainer!
I have one too , with P120 and no tanks:
Just remember to deploy flaps and airbrake (and gear ), to avoid very long gliding landing roll.
I'm sure that even with dead engine it would land like a glider!
Happy landings

Hey Gary (and everyone else listening!)
Just picked up a used AD F-100 a while back. I am at altitude here in Denver to the tune of 6000 feet and there is about a 20% loss of power on turbines. I got an old P-120 I am thinking of throwing in there (non-SE, non-SX, very early serial number, probably 24-26lb thrust at sea level, and likely about 20 lb thrust up here (no joke)
Is that a bad idea? Am I going to have a slow (albeit very pretty) pig on my hands with barely enough zip & go in her?

Shaz, mine is flying on a P-120 kerosene start engine that is producing 30lbs and it is plenty of power for takeoff and flight. You could run 27-28lbs with no problem but I really don't think you will have much performance with 20lbs and you might not even get it off the ground. I have not weighed mine yet but I am sure it is near 30lbs without fuel.

RE: Aviation Design F-100 Pics
Hey Gary,
Any bad tendencies for the F-100 that I should know about? I just lost a Viperjet in a high speed stall doing a 3/4 throttle turn to base leg with full flaps (about 75 mph). No warning, just snap, zoom, splat.
I figured I would learn from that mistake and ask ahead of time. Anybody notice anything quirky? Does she wobble as a warning? Any wing dropping? How mucgh can you push the flare at landing? How slow can you get her on final? Does she like nose up approach or nose even with horizon approach? I could go on and on, but you get the picture...
Thanks in advance!

The AD F-100 stalls in a very straight and level way, you can pull the stick full aft on flare without any tendency to snap over.
For me it flies like a trainer, here is a video of mine:

I have a P120 non SE, and in this video I took off from grassy field with a damaged right wheel which was bent outward (in take off the model veered on the right) and with an outside temperature more than 32 °C ( 90° F).
