*** TURBINE TRAINER CHEAP ? **
HI THERE
i am interested in buy a turbine jet trainer, but i dont want any spensive plane, i already have a few jets but like always i put them all the stuff and i finished very spensive,
* ARF, very important!!
* very easy to fly!!
* no retracts
* no fancy stuff
* just an airframe for a p-70 to p-120
* etc.
* cheap!!
i do a little research but i find some like COMPOSITE-ARF but the jet is like 1,000.00 thats ok but the retracts is like another 700.00, and thats make a plane very spensive and i dont want to learn to fly turbines in a spensive jet
i was thinking in some like:
+ reaction, but is the same they sell it now in 1,300.00 + 650.00 retracts is a 2,000.00 jet againg, NNNOOOO!!!
+ pat mcurry AV8R, but is discotinued and no ARF, (GOOD CHOICE, I THINK)
does any one know some company who sale a jet like this
email me what do you know, i dont think i am the only one in this situation
thanks in advance

Peter
Get a TBM Shokjet
They are $499.00 and no retracts or brakes to buy http://www.troybuiltmodels.com/items/TBMSHOKJET.html
Buy a Jet Central Super Bee from them and it's only $299.00
I have one with a PSTj600r in it.
Flies great

Formost = much work to make airframe turbine safe. See this thread:
http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_7016824/tm.htm
If you don't make the modifications you could shed the wings or fold the booms.

Not only that but I spent about 8 hours to get it ready to fly and that included the Turbine install.
This is the best deal for a trainer. All that and NO PNEUMATICS to deal with.

Peter,
Welcome to the turbines! I spent a month doing a similar search to yours and at the end decided on the Boomerang Sprint.
But responding to your question directly this is what I found out:
- Lower cost jets (which can be flown without retracts):
1. Mick Reaves Super Reaper - [link=http://www.mickreevesmodels.co.uk/~mickreev/Jets/Reaper/reaper.htm]Reaper[/link] - $350
2. Ziroli Turbinator - you need the [link=http://www.ziroliplans.com/turbinator.html]$50 plans[/link] and also the [link=http://store.laser-design-services.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=11]$189 kit[/link]
3. JetMach 44 - [link=http://store.laser-design-services.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1&products_id=8]LDS[/link] $289 - high wing, for Wren44
4. JetMach 60 - [link=http://store.laser-design-services.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1&products_id=23]LDS[/link] $320 - high wing, for JetCat 60
5. JetMach Sport 60 - [link=http://store.laser-design-services.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1&products_id=7]LDS[/link] $375 - low wing for JetCat 60
6. Reaction 54 - [link=http://www.btemodels.com/r54.html]BTE Engineering[/link] - $470
7. TBM ShokJet - [link=http://www.troybuiltmodels.com/items/TBMSHOKJET-YELLOWTMS.html]TBM[/link] [link=http://store.laser-design-services.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=5&products_id=10] or LDS[/link]$499 - its the ARF JetMach60
- the lowest cost jets with retracts:
1. Fly Eagle Jet Trainer - [link=http://www.flyeaglejet.com/Trainer.html]FEJ[/link] - about $1300 with Retracts
2. TBM DV8R - [link=http://www.troybuiltmodels.com/items/TBMDV8R.html]TBM[/link] - about $1298 with Retracts
The Boomerang is $1620 with retracts but appears to be a quasi-unanimous recommendation for a first trainer jet by a lot of people on this site. It is for the people on the flying field here in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Kerry Sterner - KJ Scale designs (RCU name is Vampire)
Unfortunately it is not an ARF, but not that hard of a build. It was the first ever "kit" I built years ago when they first came out, so it is not that hard and the plans and instructions are excellent! The HP version pictured was a prototype and probably the 4th or 5th Facet I built during that time. They are a great value for the money and fly very nice and are very simple.
Send him a PM to get the latest info.
