Default FEJ Saab J-35 Draken

Gents and Ladies

Would you be interested in a Saab J-35 Draken via FEJ?

No concrete details to give now, for there are none. But if FEJ builds it, it will be an ARF, Huge 1:5 or 1:4 scale, 36 to 45lb turbine, several paint schemes, ridiculously low priced, and backed by their superb customer service – pretty much like what’s going on now with all their planes.

It was I who talked them into producing the F-14, and I’m out to do the same with the Draken. Although I have a little “pull” in the company, this one won’t happen unless I report a huge number of fliers would be interested. I want this Bad Boy, folks; help me and the rest of us obtain one.

Simply say Yes/No in this open arena or hit me with a PM: Yes, No. That’s all I require for now.

Real specs (you math whizzes can figure out the inch/mm size of a 1:5 or 1:4.5 or 1:4 scale):

L: 50.36’ (15.35m)
W: 30.84’ (9.40m)
H: 12.76’ (3.89m)
Spd: 1320-mph (2125-kmh)

If they can make a 36-45lb thrust turbine "ridiculously" priced to go with it, i'm in! lol

The size could possibly be a 1:6 scale. Nothing in stone, but there's a company who produced a few a while back and I believe theirs is a 1:5 scale, but it's a kit, not an ARF. There's only one flying in America and his is a crowd pleaser and a half. Especially when it lands and rides the tail wheels down the runway - freakin' sweet...

Thanks for your inputs...

I built the ducted fan version of the Crestline Viggen in 1988. This is a plane that you don't see very often, and I believe one done in the right size (biggggg) would be a show stopper. Also, an A-6 Intruder would be a welcome change from the F-15, F-16, etc.

If my math is right, a 1/4 scale version is roughly 12 1/2 feet long.. thats a BIG airplane... A 1/6 scale seems to be about 100" long. I would be interested in one in the 28-36lb thrust turbine range..

I think a 100" long Viggen would be a better subject, but the Draken is one hell of an airplane for sure. The landing gear would be easier to handle on the Draken.

Sounds great, but maybe we should let them sort out the ones they already have first? []

If you have some "pull" at fej please get them to make something smaller, not everyone can afford to or has somewhere to fly big jets. plenty of people have turbines that are in there first jets that are waiting for a scale airframe to put it in.
i know they have their liberty on the website but scale airframes are what is needed, they cannot get bigger and bigger forever due to weight limits ,turbine sizes etc.

Everyone is building US planes - one reason why I know this will be a hit.

We're far from quoting a price, but just as our current birds are way lower than the competitors, so will this one.

I think a 1:5 scale is dead on, but two versions is a possibility: 1:5 and a 1:6.5 or so. I will pass this on in my report.

This is an idea as well, but behind the Draken and the SR-71 [X(]

Hi all SAAB entusiasts

We are ateam here in sweden and we have started a prodject for a few month ago.
The plan is to make Saab:s airplane J-35 Draken, JA-37 Viggen and the newest JAS-39 Gripen in scale 1:6.
We are working daily with compsite and this kit will be in 100% composite. (NO WOOD)
This aircraft is made from wery good drawings from Saab it self, and the molds are milled in a 5 axis CNC machine.

First out is the JAS-39 Gripen.
Selling will start in a few month when we have testfly it.
