I just now received this news, Flight Ops will be scheduled for this weekend at Fentress NALF.The past 18 years flight Ops were always suspended for Memorial day weekend, so far they are on this weekend, this means no flying on Friday.R/C flyinghrs on Saturday will be from 0900 to 1700, also the C.O. wants all personnel off the base by 1800. He said RV's and campers can stay overnight but without people in them ( not much sense in that) I explained to him that there aren't many places where these guys can go with these monsterous RV's, but his mind was made up. Sunday r/c flight hrs will be from 0800 until 1500.There is a strong possibility Ops will get suspended at the last moment (it's happened before) if they do suspend the flights, things will continue as normal. These are the things that happen when you have a command change just about every year. I spoke to a woman that runs an RV park about 20 mins away, the overnight rate is either 20 or 25 dollars, there are no hookups except for power. I thought I would give you guys a heads up on this situation, I apologize for this, but it is really out of my hands. we have to hope the Ops get suspended and we'll be OK.

That sucks, but not your fault. Tres and I were planning on being there Friday at 12 to set up the camper and maybe get a few flights in that afternoon.
I think he was going to met Joey on Thursday and help you with the field setup on Friday.

You guys have fun this year if you can. Glad I had family plans interup my trip this year with this news. I looked forward to this event every year but this stinks for those of us that travel a long distnace to go to events like this and like to camp out. atthe site.Frank you can only do what you can and these base comanders can be a royal pain in the arse when they want to be. Hope the weather holds out at least for you guys .I'll pass on the word to the other guys from MD.

I packed the trailer last night. Everything is ready to go. Now I may have to decide whether to come Saturday morning or Friday afternoon. We have had similar issues before and they always seem to suspend for the weekend. Hopefully the C.O will not go away on vacation and leave a standing order- no campers.

Well,,,,,,,,,,,,,,looks like we'll be doing some Park Zone T-28, 2EZ, and foamie flying across from the hotel parking lot Friday afternoon! Theres a good size lot by the Hampton. We had a blast there last year. Plenty of room.  We'll also do a little traveling around town Friday ( Debbies Hobbies etc).    We'll see the rest of you guys at the entrance gate Friday morning, unless things change.

Or,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ya'll can stop be the Pre-Fentess "Friday Night Flight By The Lights" fly-in Friday evening!

              Stay safe and I hope all is well.  I have a couple "non" foam jets this year to fly if I decide to still go.  It is still a little early, I would be willing to bet money that flight ops will be cancelled and everything will be fine for camping.  We will not know until the last minute though.

Frank, Glen Hansen and I just now got the word thanks to someone who was reading the comments. We were really looking forward to this., but it does not make sense to spend a couple of hundred dollars hauling a 40 foot trailer for 10 hours and then have to try and shuffle this monster in an RV park Friday and then pay for a hotel, if we can get it, Saturday. Hope this guy will be gone next year. I defy him to find a single complaint from anyone about us staying there all these years. Well, hope for better next year

I am going for sure. I just cant miss this one. I will bring the camper and follow the rules for whatever situation develops. YES, the BVM Electra and Ziroli E-Turbinator ARF with 1800 watts will fly this time!!!! See you guys Saturday morning. I talked to BVM at Joe Nall and Bob told me personally he was coming.
