Guys, I am trying to decide between this and a SM Baby ViperJet. The aircraft is for my son (12) and he is a very good pilot. We something fast but is not a total turd on landing. ViperJets are everywhere and I was thinking this would be a little different and you can't beat the price.

What say you guys, go with the dragon or wait for the Baby viper?

I saw the Dragon at Jetpower. The red paint scheme is awesome. My friend has one and it lands like a trainer. I say go for it

Hi Rcand,

Your 8611's, was it an easy fit or did you need to make severe modifications?

Hi Inboundlz,

I'm using the upgrade version of the gear set that x-treme are selling and they are great very smooth and work well, no problems.

Excellent.

I am hearing through the Grape Vine that new orders are taking 5+ weeks to ship, anyone else hear that? I hate having my cash tied up for 1-2 months with nothing to show for it...

Just had a great weekend of flying my Dragon at the Top Gun 2009 at Coolum Australia.
Had a good dozen flights with it over the weekend all without problems, its just one of the best sports jets available, I think anyway.
Also took out Pilots Choice Award with the Dragon at the Event.
I have to also thank Xtreme Hobby and Ausjets for there support and great You Tube footage taken over the weekend.
Thanks again Slick

Hi Dave, its going to be worth the wait, for a 120N size jet its like flying a 2x2 F3A pattern plane on steroids and way more fun........

I know here in Downunder land that Xtreme Hobby and Ausjets are in the process of ordering 5 Dragon's, 1 for a mate of mine and the rest at the moment for stock so maybe others that what one in Australia won't have this wait time.

So hopefully by Xmas there will be 3 Dragons flying in SE Queensland and Northern NSW that I know of.

I am using stock gear, struts, wheels and brakes. I am not for the inflatable tires, prefer solid rubber. You nned a little toe-in to make it track straight. Too much toe-in wears the tires out quick. Retract housings are strong. I have not had a hard landing yet, knock on wood, so i am not sure how much abuse it will take.

One of the things I like most about the Dragon is the sound. If you leave the nose gear door off, there is a sound emitted from the plane that is hard to beat. This video gives you some idea of the tone but hearing it in person is much better (powered by a Jet Cat P160sx):

This is not my plane but I've flown it a couple of times. My impressions: smooth and scale like take offs, tracks very well, excellent 4 point rolls, nice size..............did I mention the sound?

Well the build is going well. Here is a rundown of the equipment installed.

JR 8611A's on all surfaces and a JR 8411 for the steering. I'm using a smart-fly EQ-6 Turbo for power managment and 3 5000mah lipo packs for power.

Turbine is a Jet Cat Titian with the new upgraded CNC compressor wheel.

Here are some pic's of the prosses so far. I will post more later.
I have to say the quality of this kit is fantastic.

Jeff,

Looks like your nose gear is installed backwards....

Also, on the nose, is it cable steering or is the servo mounted to the strut ALA 339?
