Hi,
I agree (sometimes). I often hear that opinion and send it up the flagpole. Believe it or not, it's actually resulted in changes in the past! At the same time, though, I see that Tomcat you're scratch-building and I feel like you could probably figure out how to build this Falcon with no plans or instructions whatsoever.....

haha.. its funny you mention that. Other than paroozing (spelling?) through the manual for dimensions, and getting a jist of how things go in (like the cockpit) i have maybe looked at the manual about 5 times.. most of the time i have spent looking at the pictures... Wait.. there are plans for the 16? damn.. didn't get any of those. haha
As far as mounting the missle rail. Then drilled a #54 hole through both sides of the missle rails, so they were about 1" infront of the hinge wire, and 1" aft of the leading edge. transferred these holes to the wingtips and epoxied some nyrod into the wingtip like the directions said. then i enlarged the hole on the outside of the missle rail to 1/4". Mixed up some 30min epoxy and milled fiber, poured it inside the 1/4" hole and then put a 1/4" aluminum tube into the holes and then flipped the missle rail over so the 1/4" hole was flat on the table. Opened up the #54 hole on the other side, so a dubro servo mounting screw would go through, and then screwed the missle rail onto the wingtip with the servo screws going into the nyrod.
My thoughts are, if a missle rail gets caught on grass, it will rip the screws out of the nyrod before messing up the wingtip or the rail. Then all that will need to be done, is the nyrod replaced with a new piece.

RE: Yellow Aircraft F-16c build
Gentlemen,
I had been thinking about acquirinig a Yellow Aircraft F-16 as a building project for this winter, but there were lots of questions that I wanted answered before I made the leap. This thread, however, has eliminated any concerns that I might have had.
Thank you all for your informative and helpful approach.
I now will get on with acquiring the kit and necessary ancillary material in anticipation of the approaching winter. I am actually looking forward to winter - how wierd is that??!!

Ancillary.
I could possibly be accused of using a $10.00 word when a ten-cent one would work just fine. In this instance, however, the expensive nature of the "extra" material is very deserving of the word ancillary.

Gunrad
Could you confirm that you are now flying your georgeous F-16 on 10s 45c 6500 batteries?
Also, which ESC are you using with the Stumax and what are you using to manage the air sequencing?

RE: Yellow Aircraft F-16c build
Hello
I have ordered a YA F-16C. Now I am evaluating the drive for the bird.
Has anybody measured parameter of the installed Stumax SM110-52 ?
Volts, Amps, Watts, thrust ?
At what exhaust diameter ?
Regards
Martin

Been a while since I posted on this thread but here are some pics of my F16 after paint and dry transfers. The plane flys great has a opening canopy with a servo and the drop tank can drop in flight. I also did panel lines on the wings and a ton of flush rivets with screw heads on the panels.

Gun,
That looks REALLY super, buddy. I'm going to be starting a full build on one of these for a customer, and I'm game for hearing about peoples' experiences with building this bird for EDF. This will be my second EDF build on this bird, but I'm always hoping to learn from other builder; particularly on what you guys have done for weight-savings.
My last EDF bird was build completely stock (with no extra consideration for weight) and flew (very briefly [] ) on an E-Turbax fan on 10s. That flight, though ill-fated, showed how well the plane flies on just a 10s setup.

Quick update on this bird. I got some good flight video from Kirk. Its flying great and I ended up winning the scale AM class at Ejets this year. Time for a new project
In the pic I have a good shot of the afterburner ring.

Wow,
That looks awesome! Riddle: Why did the chicken put the ventral fins at the correct angle? To prove to the other manufacturers of F-16 kits that it could be done...
Congrats on your win. You fly the snot out of that thing!
