Thomas, what are you using for the wing sweep control unit? I got one from OSA and the programing will take a while to get through it. Was wondering if there are any other control units out there.

Thomas, What radio are you using? I have a DX-18 was wondering if you had one also and could copy the program to a memory card. I've sent the controller back to Oregon as the programing
is more than I want to handle. So let me know. Thanks John T.

John,
Currently i have the Jr 11X, but the F14 will get the new JR 28X when the time comes. I havent gotten much of the programming done in the 11X because it doesnt have enough mixes or channels for all the functions of the F14.

Due to crap that has been constantly going wrong,i'm done. I'm getting out of the hobby.

So,
This project is officially for sale.

$11,000 + shipping

All tooling, templates, plugs, etc are included with the sale. I'm also including a brand new laptop with my current Solidworks program with all CAD Files associated with this project at this price. RAW materials are not included (available for additional).
All 3D printed items will be included and I'll provide 1 year of assistance for the layup's, design finalization and support for finishing the model. I will also include the completed design of the landing gear system and provide contacts for all machined items necessary to be finished.
If you want everything done, so its just a "layup and go" project with a flying prototype (no turbines or landing gear), the price will be $25,000.

Absolutely every piece of information I have will be included (documentation, layup schedules, etc etc etc).

I'm just officially fed up with everything and need to get out and do something else. The pricing listed is well below 20% of what I have actually invested financially and time wise, there is no price that would convey how much has been put into this project.

Reasonable offers will be considered, Local pickup is STRONGLY suggested, but shipping is possible at the buyers expense (roughly $1500-2000, as there is A LOT of stuff)

Sad to hear Thomas, I know it is a hard way such a long project and you can often lose the spirit in it. Hope you find someone who will continue the project.

Definitively the news I wasn't ready to hear.
Not after all the work, time and effort you put in this great project.
And not after the goals you achieved, all of them obtained starting from scratch.
I really hope you'll reconsider your decision.

Take some time away from the project. I have seen too many Scratch builders get burned out, it is a labor of love. It soaks up a lot of time energy and resources, it seems as if you are nearly finished with all of the hard stuff, now it's time for lay up perfections and assembly. Selling everything, will always leave a question mark, and a sense of failure because you never accomplished your dream of seeing this project take flight. I remember a certain B-1 Bomber project that has fallen by the way side. These projects are a challenge, especially when you have taken on so much, with the fabrication of parts, along with building and design. It would be a shame to not see the end result but hey I understand. I enjoyed watching your progress and what ever happens, your efforts are appreciated.

Hello!...Happy Holidays!

I have been subb'd to this thread for quite sometime with high hopes for you. What you have accomplished is to be commended.

I too have a f-14 on the bench and Know only to well how you feel and have made a decision to build strictly for myself, I even decline most repairs for others, Because I am disappointed by request from others that don't come to fruitation, a lot of talk and little do (I am being nice) I know I will never recover the monies or efforts I put out at others request for --------- so now it's just for me, and if you want it you will pay my price up front or be ignored.

I do not want to seem like I have all the answers or really know your motivations I just want to wish you well, you have great skill and should continue in your endeavors, but for you own gratification.

Sorry for this doom and gloom post ................... DONNY

As someone who has had my share of things "go wrong" in this hobby, I suggest you take a break and get back to your F-14 once you're ready. If the passion doesn't come back in a reasonable amount of time, then sell it. It's a shame to see you walk away right now.

I'll add another thought to what I said in my previous post.
Just imagine your project bought by a commercial entity, someone that is willing to create and sell a rc F-14: he'll then have a mold/prototype almost for free as you did the most of, if not all, the job.
I'll second who said to take a break and stay away from your project for some time.

The main landing gear and hydraulic actuator cylinder designs are complete. the retraction cylinder creates 19lbs of retraction force on 120psi of pressure.

The first of the preliminary design for the nose gear is getting done. This is a pretty good start and its going quicker than I expected.. The devil with this thing though is in the details.
By details, I mean the functional strut collapse and then getting the launch bar to work correctly, the pushrods for that and then all of the little box's on the nose gear strut. Without the boxes on it, it looks really naked..

The work as always is awesome Thomas, even more exciting is seeing you still plugging away. I pm'd you a while back but not sure if you received it. Just take your time and do the project because you want to.

Peter,
It does. I'm going to 3D print all of the updated components and verify with actual parts, but i don't suspect any problems to arise

slowly plugging along. I have the vast majority of the engineering for this done in my head, so the design is going pretty quick and pain free, its just time consuming. So far there is around 30 hours of work into the nose gear.

Thomas, how much of that lower strut extends into the upper strut at full extension?

Thanks for posting, are you using Solidworks or Rhino or something?
