Default CLASSIC JETS - 39 . . . . THE PICTURES

This coming friday will see the classic jets 39 take place at Abingdon in Oxfordshire organised by Dick Spreadbury and his team. I look forward to these events more than i do the big shows. The weather was not kind to us at CJ38, overcast, low fog and sporadic showers but despite this there was still alot of flying going on and towards the end of the day the weather cleared and many took advantage of the better weather. Fingers crossed that the weather will be kinder to us this friday . . . . . so who is going and what you taking?

51 pilots registered Jamie (incl you!), and the entry list is now closed...so if you haven't booked in, pse don't turn up on the day!
Alistair, you really must get your work rosters sorted mate! See you in October, I hope.

Cheers,

Dick

Would not be a jet meet without you Geoff!

Dunc, you need to chuck a sicky!!

Sounds like a hardcore few days for Dave. Painter, Tancock and myself were going to W&W straight from CJ's but we have now elected to give it a miss . . . Woodspring Wings is next for us, will be giving dad a hand on his stand.

Loaded already. Was planning on having the van loaded ready to go to w and w straight after CJ But had to revise that so I can fit in a Bandit Arf and a pair of Elans that need to be delivered to their new owners at Abingdon. So the flying fleet may be a little lighter than normal. Still it might be nice to have a relaxed one!
See you there, Regards Al

mmmmmmm not sure. I think it might save for Wings and wheels. Plus not sure how popular it would be hovering around the centre of a busy strip[:@]

Hey guys,
A quick question, is the event open to spectators or only to participants?

I shall be in the UK from tomorrow morning, wouldnt mind visiting.

I would appreciate it, if you could send me the details if spectators are allowed.

Thank you.

Regards,
Brian.

Great (if short for me) day at CJ 39. Weather was better than forecast and looked to be improving as I had to leave ready for a big show weekend at WW.
Rain stopped in time to allow flying in grey skies. I took my smallest fleet ever to a CJ only Spark EDF, Bandit ARF and Flash ready to go, plus an outing for the soon to be finished C-ARF Hawk.
Ian Worsdel's BobCat is just a year old, collected at WW last year!
Robbie Meek had a couple of flights with my old C-ARF Lightning (Raspberry Scheme!) great model that I shouldn't have sold! I also flew Richard Johnson's Vampire and gave him a couple of training flights on this still quite new model. just before leaving I did another check flight on Andy Bascombe's Jet Club L-39 before handing over to Geoff White...hope you looked after it Geoff! My super reliable Flash decided it was time the fuel pump failed after hundreds and hundreds of flights. As big Geoff said people forget they have a life...

Only a couple of shots by William, hopefully others will post.

Hi all,
Well the old saying goes-ask 10 people the same question, and you will get 10 different answers but i am sure that wouldn't be the case today"FANTASTIC" would be my reply,
pic 1 shows the weather we had all day, but that did not dampen the enthusasm for us boys with our toys although my first flight was mainly going round in circles, cautiously gaining a little height here and there, just waiting for the fog to eat my plane-which luckily never happened, as the day went on and greater height could be used so the flying enjoyment increased so much that my last flight was fantastic, nearly a clear sky and another very good landing,.which is quite an improvement over my lately bouncin bomb arrivals-sorry laurie looks like i passed it to you for a while.
Thanks as usual to Dick and the crew for a great day.
Geoff,i have to agree on the quality of that ham,i resisted the urge all day to eat the contents of my bag,one of the drawbacks of living alone is the microwave pizzas and toast for tea so imagine my pleasure when i opened what i thought was going to be a cheese roll-and it was a great chunk of ham just like yours, the perfect end to a great day.
Nige and i finally, after flying ic stuff together for ages got to be jet jocks at the same time and although it was as i expected(him having the exra horse power ss against my std54)when he finally did have half throttle so i could keep up it was almost a magical moment, but it didn't last long and he couldn't resist blasting past me on the straight but guess i would have done the same, thanks also to wren for sorting his pump and Jason for without his help and sorting Nige's ss-the afternoon would have been unbearable[sm=cry_smile.gif][sm=cry_smile.gif]
pic 2 shows the weather as we packed up and pic 3 as i was leaving, but thats part of what made the end of the day sooooooo good, even seeing ali's euro in the flesh and the sky for real-which normally would have taken the best bit of the day award for me unfortunately takes the second place as i cant stop seeing my landings which actually resembled landings.
Great day-cheers
mark-the nearly retired(due in my opinion largely to 2.4) fire marshall
