Default My first turbine flight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well I did it! A slight crosswind around 5 and mostly overcast. Around 4:30 PM yesterday after the scale qualifiers at Gardner. As sick to my stomach as I was, I took her up alone!.....And got her back!!!

This was flight number 2 for my SM F-16, the maiden was performed flawlessly by a very knowledgable gentleman and seasoned 16 pilot, Thank you Jeff!. Had a bit of trouble getting the Falcon to light on gas for my flight, Some of the more experienced guys decided to bypass the onboard glow system and fire the plug manually, It fired right up and my heart started pounding but I knew I had to do it.

I really am fortunate to have had such a great group of guys with me on this adventure!!

I will post the video as soon as I get it!!!

I LOVE JETS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CONGRATS on the maiden flight. You are now hooked like the rest of us as there is nothing like the smell of kerosene, the realistic sound of the turbine, and the rush you get from flying the scale model jet. Now the challenge will be resisting the urge to start looking for the next jet project. [8D]

Sue and I will send you a DVD of the two flights...

You need to realize you had some 'big name' Turbine CD players to get you kicked out of the nest ... Frank Alvarez, Art Arro, Ray Davis, Jeff Lynds and Jack Buckley.

Congrats my friend!

Thanks so much for the kind words! I could not even begin to express my gratitude...

Hey Mike, My landing was nowhere near as good as Jeff's, Not even close!

When you weren't looking he said to me "Hey Pete, watch this, I'm gonna grind your left sidewinder a bit"

I think this proves my point that to an adavcned R/C pilot, an F-16 makes a great 1st time model.
Looks good, can fly fast, and can land slow. It can disappear from you for a second, but it always comes back.

Hello Pete,

It was a pleasure to meet you at the Gardner event, in particular, I was impressed with your determination in getting your first flights in with your new jet.
Today you are a member of an elite group of folks that have mastered the art of remotley controlling a fast, slick and scale model from the static engine start to the last critical seconds demanding a skill rivalled by no other hobby. Congradulation.
Look forward to seeing you at our 5th annual 'Capitol Jets".
Take care for now Pete, well done!
Frank.
