ARF scale jet for 230 ft grass runway
Hi there
Our grass runway is 230 ft long, and I’m flying a Sprint there now, but I’d like to fly a scale jet instead. My asphalt-runway-Eurosport might do it, but the turbine spool-up is rather slow, and I’ll hate to “land” in front of the runway, due to a high-alpha – slow throttle response issue. Further the Robart retracts seems to stiff for my field.
So which scale jet has the same slow flying characteristics as the Boomerang Sprint? Perhaps a light 1/9 scale model, with a 60-size turbine, with a fast throttle response??
I have heard that the L39 and MB339 should be good for very short fields, but are the really, and what about BAe Hawk, F15, F16 and F8 etc? I sure do like the F-series and the Mig and Sukhoi series, all though the Mig/Sukhoi’s always are large and dead expensive. [sm=drowning.gif]

RE: ARF scale jet for 230 ft grass runway
starting from your engine p-60 ...and your wish to see a scale jet ..not a flying box...and you need it to fly slow= big wing...
i would say BD5! James Bond 007 movie jet! http://www.skymasterjet.com/bd5.htm
...f15 f16 no...you will need to come in hot not to stall...becouse the p60 size would come out litle heavy...and they have less wing...hawk l39 and mb339
is also a nice choice but you need the small ones.
i do not recoment you try l39 or hawk from skymaster for this engine..size is to big and a p120 would be a must for this models..

good luck![8D]

RE: ARF scale jet for 230 ft grass runway
Thanks
Opps, the Jetcat 60SX were only a suggestion - I dont own one. Sorry for the confusion.
I have a Simjet 3000, and a TJ74 (14.5 kg / 32 lbs), but both are with slow spoolup, so I imagined that they won’t suit the project.
The small Hawk from JL seems nice
