Have the Graupner Hawk ready for a maiden next Sunday at Chalgrove. The scale detail is very impressive.
will get it in the sky powered by a Jetcat 160SX. Once it has had a few test flights it will be off to paint!

Really do have one!
Was purchased from Dave at Motors & Rotors.
Never came with landing gear - purchased the scale landing gear from Comp Arf.
This plane was built for me by the Motors and Rotors guys so I do not have the wet weight.
With regards to it being ARF, you will have to ask the Motor & rotor guys!
I will get pics of it next week at Chalgrove and get them posted.

It did come with landing gear! The scale set from CARF and Graupner is identical. We have sold two of the Graupner Hawk kits in England, Simon's kit came from early released examples without a manual from Graupner. M&R produced a photo pack for our customers detailing the build.
Cockpit install...
Any information you need email me [email protected].

The CARF Hawk is the same outline, the Graupner model has more surface detail, double skinned gear doors underwing fences and scale flap hinging.
You could buy the Graupner kit and CARF sport gear if you really wanted as the units are the same.
The CARF kit has more scale options coming, the nose Pitot is an optional moulding. Talk with JPZ and he can help you

Sorry, it's an option from CARF. JPZ would have the information to make your CARF ordering easy. He should have all the information you need.

RE: Graupner 1:5,5 Hawk
Mixed day today, managed to test fly Simon Miller's Graupner Hawk today as well as my Electra. Built by Stevie, Powered by a P160SX, DSX-12 JR. The model was ready for paint after the test flying session. First flight pixs by Stevie
Scale Flaps, which actually work like the non scale CARF Hawk set-up. Even with a heavier all up weight and scale gear the Hawk was off in 60-70m on damp grass, couple of peeps of trim and it was grooving. More energy than the CARF version, and not quite as comfortable slow it still flew really nicely, slow landing speed even with the higher weight. It didn't surprise me it felt like all the Hawk's I've flown.Great aeroplane.
My test flight was followed by a flight with Stevie, then the owner had a flight...plane black aeroplanes and nervous pilots shouldn't mix. So kit No 2.

RE: Graupner 1:5,5 Hawk
Nice pictures!
Firstly, Thank you Dave and Steve for all your help getting it in the air!
As for what happened, do not try to do things with planes you have had 2 mins of stick time. I suppose this is what happens when you fly with great pilots. Gives you a false sense of how easy it is and it comes back to bite you in the a***!
Have just upacked the bin bags, what a mess, but as long as no one gets hurt apart from my pocket I am a happy man.
Dave, what do you think, kit 2 or the Comp Arf hawk or do we just go straight for the A10?
Going to stick my head down the toilet now!

RE: Graupner 1:5,5 Hawk
Really sorry to hear the end result. If the gear is still ok, I recommend SAVE your Hard Earned Money on that expensive Hawk and be one of the first 10 to order the FEJ 103 inch length hawk with out gear. I am sure your gear (if still repairable) can be used on this similar air frame. Cost for FEJ Hawk with out gear maybe $2200 USD. And you will be in the air again. How Graupner, Airworld, and Carf can charge $7,000 to $10,000 for their KITS.. is beyond me.
Again, really sorry for the loss, but here is an inexpensive way to have a scale large hawk that you wont have to steal from the college trust fund.
Best Wishes.
Kevin

Hello Kevin,

Do you really want to know why ? I think you know the answer.
Please be serious and honnest and don't compare Ferrari and Lada....

Sorry to strike such a nerve. Absolutly no malice intended. I love the Hawk and everyone is intitled to their own opinion and choice of kit.
Happier Hawk flying days to come.

RE: Graupner 1:5,5 Hawk
2nd kit collected - check
Turbine sent for repair - check
Builder contacted - check
Power box and landing gear for repair - check
Spend a small fortune getting in the air again - check
Now just tell the better half it is beans on toast for 6 months!
And once this puppy is ready to go I can assure you uncle dave that you will be standing SOOO close to me for the first few flights people might just get the wrong idea!
I will speak with steve about the new build to see if he would be interested in doing a build thread if anyone is interested.
