Default AWESOME FEJ F-100 "IN THE HOUSE"

DHL dropped off the new F-100 yesterday. I have to say, FlyEagle has outdone themselves on this one! Gorgeous paint job! Carbon fiber in all the right places. Fit of hatches and gear doors is PERFECT. Rivet detail is something to behold. LG simple and it works!

As soon as I got a look at this put together, I immediately called Dan at Details to have him get started on the complete lighting system and parachute installation. This plane deserves it! And for those "enquiring minds" who'd like to know, the pipe looks great! Excellent welds, strength and proper design. I'm going to use it.

More pictures to follow as I continue to assemble(I can't say build, there's nothing left to build).

Craig,

It's 92" x 71". Doesn't sound that much larger than the BVM, but in person, it's quite a bit bigger!

Vin, The cockpit tubs are here but they're still working on the cockpit instruments etc.

Joey, You're gonna NEED one of these, but I still want to see the BVM metal morph in the air. That thing is SICK!

Scott, I'm going to trick this one out, just like Justin Sand's, which is where I first saw this color scheme. I'm going to order another one, in primer though, so I can MetalKote it. I'll go for the 354th scheme Terry Nitch did.

The final proof will be in the flying, but I have high hopes that being larger and with a lighter wing loading it will fly as good as the BVM.

Looks good, and the fact that they are now using Carbon fiber is good news. Did it come with pylons and wing tanks?

Vin,

Justin Sands built the "D" version from a BVM kit for Top Gun a couple years ago. I saw pictures of it and decided if I ever built a Hun, that would be my first choice color scheme. I found a decal pak on line and also pics of Justin's and sent them to James a few months back. They decided to do the "F" model instead of the "D", so I asked them to just adapt the color scheme. They did a great job!

Here's THE MAN at work on his masterpiece! And the color schematic.

We flew with Justin at his private strip this summer and I must say that the 100 was most impressive to watch....don't hurt to have a full scale runway available for those "hot" landing approaches....Justin flew her perfectly, like it was just an extension of himself....

Good Luck with yours Dave!

Dave,

I checked out the specs for the real F-100F model and compared them to the 92" fuse length. The real F-100F is 53'3" or 627" long. Divide that by 92" and you get the FEJ F-100F at 1:6.8 scale. Looks like all my 1/7th F-100 ordnance will fit that puppy. Even though the specs are no longer available from BVM on their website. I remember the scale for the BVM F-100 to be around 1:6.9 scale. I guess it depends what 3-views were used. Either way the FEJ F-100F looks very nice.

Dan

WOW that's going to be a fun one to watch. Is the landing gear and the way it is mounted as good as the BVM ? Good Luck hope you have it ready for Fresno. Dan

Dan A,

To be honest, NOTHING about this plane is as good as the BVM. It's not intended to be. The BVM kit goes for $7k and takes a Master Builder a year or more to do it justice. I paid less than $3k for this one, delivered to my door, fully painted and will have it ready for Fresno.

I was unfortunate enough to see the innards of my BVM F-100 after the crash and the construction of that kit is better than ANYTHING I had ever seen before. Solid carbon wing spars etc etc etc. A lot of the design elements of the BVM were copied on this plane, though, so I think functionally there's a good chance it might just fly as good. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Everything I've found, so far, about the construction says it a sound, well constructed sport scale model of the F-100. You couldn't compete in WJM with it, like the BVM, but who cares, I just want to fly it and it is beautiful!

Dan G,

I just checked some of the pylons from my BVM that survived the crash, and they are pretty dam close in size. Definitely useable! I think you may have just got another order[sm=greedy.gif] I'm not sure when or if FEJ will come out with anything. They had molds of the 275 gal tank at one time but for some reason didn't produce it. At least not yet.

Hi Dave,

Very nice plane! Just so happened I was looking for the scale of the BVM F-100, it is 1:6.857, FWIW.

Wow Matt,

That's tight. 6.857... OK so I rounded up to 1:6.9...lol. I say that's close enough.

David, if this above is the case, I won't have to change any of the chute parts. It sounds like a very close match size wise.

Dan
