*** SIN CITY JETS '09 November 5-8 ***
Hello Everyone,
After everyone has recovered from their hangover from Ron Long's BIG BALLER event, we will be holding the 3rd annual Sin City Jets Rally in Las Vegas, NV.
This year, we will be starting the event on Thursday, since most people travel home on Sunday anyway. So Thurs - Sat night will be the official event, with everyone welcome to stay and hang-out on Sunday, if they like. We do have overnight camping available, however the good seats go fast. Get their early for motor-home / bus parking right next to the field. Late arrivals will be just to the south of the field. Motor home parking will be where it says "Vendor" Area of the picture.
The runway is 700' x 75' (not 150' wide as stated in the picture). We will have kero and smoke for purchase on-site.
On-site food will be available, with some fast-food and convenience stores close-by.
The "near" hotels are Sunset Station, Fiesta henderson (best price), Green Valley Ranch (nicest, most expensive), and then of course the strip (sky's the limit). If you do plan on staying downtown, "old" downtown (4 queens, golden nugget, Binions, etc) will be closer than the main strip hotels. If you need any help or info, let me know.
There is a map on the website, with a link in my signature.
This video offers some decent aerial shots of the field and the surrounding area:

I'll see you in Arizona, and then we'll see you in Vegas!

Hey guys we're looking forward to our third annual event this year. Just a couple of quick notes:
Remember, the event starts on THURSDAY this year. So, get here early and let the fun begin.
Also, we will be having 2 different versions of the T-Shirts this year. We will have our classic T-Shirt (....rolled by 2 hookers) and a design with the answers to the most commonly asked questions (stolen from RCU). If you have a preference, let me know when you sign up.
Also, if you plan on staying overnight, get here early. The good spots right next to the airfield go quick.
If anyone needs any help with reservations or directions, please let me know! Take care and drive safe. If you haven't been here yet, get down here.

Well, we are just a little over a week away. I know there has been a lot of drama lately here on RCU. I know some inappropriate comments have been made and that some people have been offended.
I am hoping that people will be able to look past this, move on, and come enjoy the fall Vegas weather. I can assure you, there will be NO DRAMA at this event. This is the third year we have thrown this party, and everyone is invited.
Please support this event, as we have tried our best to do all year. I am looking forward to seeing everyone here.
Take care and travel safe!

There is a home game Saturday night.
There is a home game Saturday night.
Just plan ahead if leaving or arriving on Saturday for traffic. Again, typically its not too bad.

Thanks for the info. Starting Thursday then helps out with parking. Usually not an issue, but all depends on the size of the event.

Wish I could be there Chad, but since I am already scheduled for a 4 day trip (an anniversary thing) to Vegas the very next week, I can't get the time off to come down the week before as well.
Hope I can make it next year though, and I hope you guys have a great turnout and a safe event.

I have no dog in this fight....
However, what really bothers me here is our event has a cloud hanging over it because of some BS that has nothing to do with Chad or Sin City Jets. As many of you know, it takes hard work and time to put one of these events together. We have to get our club on board, spend club money for awards and whatnot, and set the field up for the event...along with about a hundred other things.
We believe that supporting each others events is the right thing to do, and we have. Chad has been to Speed World, Cali-Jets, Montana, Fresno, and Ron's event this year alone. At two of those events he did not even have a jet to fly, and only got one flight at another. All the time he has had a great attitude while spending his time and money supporting these events. And if I am not mistaken has donated product to the event raffle at all of these events.
He has made friends in this hobby all across the US and never cared what color shirt they wear. Now something happens that has nothing to do with him and all his genuine good will and effort is out the window because people have to behave badly(I am not taking sides, no dog remember?). Chad put his butt on the line with our club, I sure hope it swings his way.
Chad is one of the most brutally honest people I have ever known and he is one of the good guys. I have been in the hobby well over 30 years, been in several circles, and Chad is one of people that I have met along the way the makes this hobby worth every second and every dollar I have spent on it. I wish everyone could set aside their differences and come together as pilots, modelers, brothers.
Remember guys, events like these are the heart that pumps the life blood of our hobby, it is where lifetime friendships are made, and it is where the less-experienced can learn form the masters. Chad knows that and has supported as many as he can, will you do the same?
Guys, I ask you....Come on out, Fly some Jets, tell some lies, Eat good food, Have a drink or two, see a show, and have a great time!
The LZ is ready, will you be there?

You see, my complaint is that I used to live REALLY close to LV! But back then, I didn't even know RC jets existed!
And now, VEGAS is WAY TOO far to drive to from the bay area! And really, it shouldn't be. The freeways to vagas from here criss cross to and fro and double the time it should take to get to vegas.
I want a straight shot from san francisco to vegas on the road? Is that too much to ask?
Raf
