Not much to report lately. A couple of days after my last post my mom went into the hospital, brought her home right before Thanksgiving and took her back in a couple of weeks later. She just came home again middle of last week so the Phantom kinda got put on hold. Be back on it soon though...

Anyone on the Western half of the US wants paint work like this done? There's a guy in Reno that has some amazing airbrush skills, and he's an outstanding RC flier so he understands that is your baby he is working with.

He's just started painting a Hangar 9 Mustang 150 for me in Race #7 Strega scheme. I also included some pictures of the Hangar 9 150 Mustang he did in the Race #5 Voodoo scheme.

No one can touch his rates.

Anyways....

If others like me are interested about that fantastic scheme

Revell got a model of the F-4F with the Anniversery scheme
See

I got mine yesterday at a local store

Should be easier with their diagrams and decals than pictures

Well, so much for trying to help a fellow on the west coast who might have been inspired by your idea. Great Job!

Yeah, ok. No insult intended but it just doesn't fit. This is a Phantom thread, nothing more. Kind of like we interupt this broadcast..... just start your own thread, best of luck to the guy.

Well why don't you delete your irrelevant,rude,post/plug/advertisement for someone who basically,is in direct competition with Dan?Tasteless, and very uncool.[sm=48_48.gif]By the way, here's some of Dan's work. He's worth every penny of his prices, because I haven't seen anybody that can touch his work.Straight up!

Thanks Erik, I don't see why Cowboy guy has a problem. PHANTOM THREAD. Again, best of luck to the guy, but I doubt anything I have done here has inspired a Mustang paint job.... If I have I am truly flattered. I have to say though I almost went cross-eyed getting that star centered on your spinner......

My post had absolutely nothing to do with a Mustang, it was about paint jobs in case anyone decided they liked the idea of that kind of detail on the western side of the US. I guess only those who actually read it got it.

Those pictures were just examples of paint not planes.

Cowboy, your posts have absolutely no business in this thread. This is a thread about one model (an F-4 Phantom) being refurbished by one modeler.

If you want to drum up some business for a friend of yours, then start your own thread.

You just don't get it.

Dan,

First of all amazing work on the restoration.

I am in the process of building a CJM F-4D and modifying it for turbine and would like to use similar Stab Configuration to what you have done. Is there any way that you could provide a bit more detail as to the hardware that you used, i.e. dimensions, thickness of aluminium parts.... DO you have sketches for the parts?

Best Regards,
Mike

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the compliment. Today or tomorrow I'll measure up the parts and PM you with dimensions and the like.

I've been asked if the project has stopped since I haven't posted in a while. Absolutely not, although it had been put on hold.

My mom became ill right after Halloween and spent most of the next 5 months in the hospital. I worked off and on with the Phantom if for nothing else to keep my mind occupied, and to keep some schedule for Billy. But most nights after work were spent in the hospital, planes as well as my own ambitions were set aside, nothing trumps your mom. I was able to have her home for Thanksgiving but back in she went a week later. Home again for New Years but again back in two weeks later. On March 26th I lost her due to complications of heart failure and liver failure.

My dad passed in 2007 so now I'm it to take care of things, to settle everything and eventually get on with a life with my wife. It's been a long road and now my life revolves around lawyers, estate taxes, medical bills and the like. What I thought would be simple now seems as if it is in slow motion.

The Richthofen Phantom is very much alive and will be my crown jewel when finished. Hopefully I can update some progress shortly here on the forum.

To Billy, thanks for being the friend you are and your infinite patience. It will all be worth it in the end, this much I promise.

Dan

Dan,

I'm so very sorry to hear about your mother. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Your work on the Phantom is incredible. My dad flew them back in the day, and I got a ride last year...an amazing warplane.

Best wished to you in this difficult time, and thank you for sharing your work with us.
