I currently have one of my friends Phantoms for a complete strip and refinish. Master Fly F4 Phantom. Converted to turbine some time back and from what I am told flys great. The finish was a decent Thunderbirds scheme but it was time for it to come off and something different. I'm more known for my painting skills than flying time (working on that) so it's a pleasure to be trusted with my buddies jet. Thought I would update this from time to time to show the transformation. The target was going to be a Vietnam camo scheme but while researching the web for detail shots I came across the German Luftwaffe 50th anniversary Phantom. There was no other choice after seeing that. As a painter by trade I can't wait to get to the gun. All you see will be paint, no transfers here. Follow along and any suggestions are appreciated.

Hi Dan
I have one of these Masterfly Phantoms that I am in the process of doing for turbine can you give me a few ideas
what size turbine is he using
what way did he do the wing joining
what landing gear did he use
how did he do the elevator control
have you any pictures of the internals and bottom of fuse.
thanks
have a nice day
Andreas

The reason I said "what a coincidence" is the fact that I have been researching that exact scheme for the better part of the last week or so. Came up with some damn good close-up detail photos. I have been going back & forth with Camlex & JL in trying to get a JL F-4 painted in this paint scheme. At first, they declined because of the complexity of the tail art, and then said they would do the scheme without the tail art and leave it to me to finish it out. Thought about going the vinyl wrap method, but I have found a local airbrush artist who said he can do the scheme complete...now I just need to get the kit on order. It's without a doubt the most beautiful scheme that I have ever come across on an F-4.

Chances are if you've given pics of this scheme to anyone in the far east it won't be long before some version, however weak, will be showing up as a new scheme........!!!!

Hey Billy,
Looks like your doing your homework....took me awhile to find that last picture of the underside. You have good taste buddy and can't wait to see the outcome.

Stripping continues. I have to say the CitraStrip works great, a little slow but doesn't harm the glass at all. (still pay attention) After I finish the top I'll make a cradle , flip her over and get to the bottom.

Looking back at that Picture I almost spit all over the computer in laughter. You even have the gold chain.
I know I don't know ya, but it was still a funny comment. Hope you were not offended too much by it, I'm sure it was in jest.
