Need a plane for World Jet Masters - ideas?
Hello friends ( you too Angus, grin)
I have a Jet Cat Titan and a Futaba 12FG 2.4 radio. I would loke to try competing at the next World Jet Masters in Ohio. Can someone recommend a good plane for first time competitor. I don't expect to win but I like to learn and have fun.
Thanks again.

Peter you have probably noted on: [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_8461831/tm.htm]JetWorldMasters@AirForceMuseum[/link]
that Peter Rutiman won the 13.5kg class with an F-15.
Sure delighted that you Canadians are returning to the competition!

RE: Need a plane for World Jet Masters - ideas?
I'm in the same boat looking for a good first-time entry. Someone planted the seed in my brain to scratch build a serious CF-100 for 2015 and that idea has seriously taken root. But this time around a good kit which can be built in one winter (this winter so I can get tons and tons of practice flying in) is in order.
I really like the Fouga Magister and have been eyeing the AD 1/4 scale one since last summer. I love how they look and have read they fly great... but I subsequently heard from somone I trust that there were structural issues with them. I would like to know if anyone has any information on this - is it really so? It certainly appears to be quite scale and there is lots of good documentation about.
Other options I'm considering:
AD F16, AD Rafale, Yellow F-15... because I have good documentation on those already.
Something older and less complicated would be ideal. I already have a small SM F-86 and JL Hawk butthey arefar, far, farfrom scale.
Cost is a consideration so I am looking at the 13.5kg class or planes that are larger but more affordable like the Fouga. The big Hawks/F16/A-10's etc are way out of my price range right now.
I really hope the Fouga is a solid airframe as I think it would be a great entry for a first time.
I have a feeling we're going to need a team trials in Canada as we are likely to get way more than 6 pilots wanting to go... just a sense I am getting. I think3 folks have publicly said they want to go and there are probably twice that many quietly already building (I know of 3.)... so we're already over is my guess.

Peter - check out http://www.avonds.com/F-15C%20ARF.htm
If I could afford it thats what I would do. $7 grand CAD with all the options, good 3-views with it, tons and tons of documentation available, all the scale details and it has already won before...

Btw, Phillip Avonds is developing a large Fouga (another great project) that may fit your requirments. Shoot him a note, always been very pleasant to deal with in my experience.

Sean,
I ordered my Fouga from Phil yesterday ... got on the list anyway. I started on my documentation - justwaiting on the owner to get back to me if I can get/go take pictures.Phil's design is astounding... its going to be really great.
My backup plan (in case I couldn't fund the Fouga) was to do a CF-105 but after emailing with Phil I decided to just go for it on the Fouga.
I was not planning to do a CF-100but a friend suggested it would be an excellent subject for WJM being vintage and never done before. There is a restored one in the museum 15 mins from my house... I still plan to do it but the Fouga will come first. After that I will go camp out inthe museum and gather information. I'll share some pics - I'm going to the museum next week to snap a few.
Now all the hard work starts...

Hey that's really cool, thanks! We have to fly from prescribed manuvers but this might help me match up some actual airshow ones with the IJMC list.
CHEERS!

I know of twovery nice Candaian scheme T-33's inEdmonton ... from two very good scale pilots. I am hoping they will try out for the team too.
