RE: C-ARF Flash Build Thread for All Flash's being built this winter
Is a Powerbox panel required or just Sensor switch enough for this jet?

Looking at an UF. Would like to try a Kingtech turbine. The 140 seems to be a natural choice. But would it be a waste to throw a 170 in it? Both engines are essentially he same size and weight. Also would it be a fat pig to run the fuze tank, wing tank, and saddle tanks? What is the total capacity? Thanks!!!

there would be a lot of pressure during filling the tanks, i already fill my wing tank then the main because of the pressure it puts on the main tank when trying to fill the wing, but the extra capacity would be nice, i've got a K-170F dialed up to 40 lbs in my Flash and with the left stick in the FUN position it'll flame out before the 5 min timer goes off.

i've seen people take a 160 powered flash and cross the sticks up at full speed, you can't break em in the air unless you hit something.

I've got a Spektrum telemetry module with airspeed but haven't installed it as of yet. It's the fastest 199mph I've seen.

My freind has a limiter at the top end of the left stick. 273 mph with a 120 SX Gets 8 minutes of intense flying in. Seems to be sufficient. It is for most of us.

My 160 is derated to a 130 as a 160 at full blow is just stupid....so, with my derated 160 on straight and level pass I "may" have seen 244....I am fairly certain I am pushing harder than a 120 and 270 seems a touch high.....
Of course, I could be missing something but after 300 flights on this Flash I am confident that unless some black magic voodoo is taking place breaking 250 with a 120 is unlikely....
In the end, 200 is the limit so anything past that is just vapor....

273mph is possible, depending on the weather conditions, the airframe is capable for sure. The big thing is how good your eyesight is, because the plane will continue to accelerate.

People almost always over estimate speed. I have literally seen "200mph" airplanes that are actually doing 120mph. It's very difficult to judge and something small like a Flash looks to be going faster than it really is.

Not to get into an arguement, but I was'nt being hypothetical. I have a substantiated proof and will leave it at that. Actually its something I really shy away from anymore, too much to go wrong.

I can respect your not wanting to argue....all I know is what I have seen and experienced and what I know is there is no way a 120 is pushing a flash @ 270+ straight and level on a calm day, just not going to happen.
We will just have to agree to disagree....
Cheers!

You guys are all a bunch of speed wusses! My old Classic Flash would taxi backwards in circles at speeds sorta close to maybe 13 MPH, verified by an old fat guy trying to run next to it. I fully expect my Ultra Flash to be much faster.

Assuming 'intense' means - flat out, I'm not even sure you'd get 8 minutes flat out before the motor runs a tad 'lean'
Standard Flash with 120SX, in my opinion, will be around the 220mph mark. Even on the best of days.
