Congrats on the maiden Roy... Glad you are enjoying your Jeti system...just imagine how better the hawk will perform with a Cortex gyro

I have a cortex gyro in my shop, just trying to decide what airplane to try it in first.

Scott, the stall speed was 48 mph with the gear down, landing flaps down. Because I put the JMP air panel in the nose (weighs 1 lb) and 2 pilots in cockpit I had to add 3 lbs of lead to tail to get the correct CG but the airplane is still so light and a floater I think the only part of the airplane that knows the difference is the main landing gear. I have been in contact with tomahawk to get the upgrade kit .I am not planning to fly the plane again till I upgrade the main gear as flying off grass currently it is not a question of if you will tear off the strut doors but when. After landing and pushing the airplane back the strut doors at one point were literally digging into the ground

Roy,
Congrats on the maiden; awesome to see that black mirror finish in the sky.
She appears to fly like a gentle giant and I can't wait to see future flights.
I love that gentle female voice when gear/flaps are actuated and especally the sexy voice whispering airspeed readouts coming down final for landing. The Jeti telemetry and data log on the screen/voice is awesome.

Great job on that project,
Joe Grice

Thanks all.
Here is a picture of me and a CT-115 (hawk) at recent air show in Duluth, MN. As you can see the mains are well sprung on this picture.

Roy... The Cortex gyro will enhance your flight experience ... Just make sure you have a kill switch (red light) and that the gyro mode (Amber light) when active. Your Jeti system has a gyro menu designed nicely for the Cortex gyro. Since you have an MSpeed sensor you can even dial in gyro gain based on your speed....Joe is an expert on the Jeti system and with his professional help you will have no problem setting it up...

Enjoy...

Yes, when powered down they squat, not when powered up. Or not always. Not really sure what the difference is. I can physically squat my down if I need to for judging.

I built a pvc stand that supported the fuse in front of the intakes and behind the wing. You can see the stand in the picture below. My first road trip about 200 miles It crack the fuse on the bottom. I really didn't want to lay it on a flat surface so I came up with a support that keeps the pressure of the weight on the spar. I made sure it would just float in the stand. It works perfectly. I have put close to 3500 miles with it and no problems.

I am not sure if the Tomahawk is made of the same material. The Skygate is very easy to crack.

Here is a picture I took before I left for KY jets in July.

I used the stand to install the wingsand to test the gear.

With the lights and rear fins plus I have a antenna on the front I can lay it on a flat floor with foam. I did have it on the shelf you see in the picture one time but I had to remove the rudder so it didn't hit the roof of the trailer. That was on the return trip after I found the cracks and had not made the spar tube support.

I am on facebook but don't use it very much.

I am thinking of doing some kind of a rolling dollie to put the plane in the trailer to avoid hanger resh from carring in and out of trailer

J.C.

I just started using face book basicall just for the planes.

I have the GBR electric Brakes installed and can not get brakes to lock, I have even tried a battery straight to the electro magnets and still does not lock. Today I installed the air brakes back on the wheels with a BVM smooth stop valve and still the brakes don"t lock. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

With the air brakes can you hear a very slight air leak at the wheel?

Thanks

The brakes (GBRJET option) were never designed to lock, just to apply a decent braking function (in selectable functions and power) so the jet slows up in the same way as the full size.

JC,
I had to shim the bolt on my Skygate to take out the little bit of slop. I had the same air leak until I found it. What you are doing is making sure the oring is all the way up in the wheel. Take a pump directly to the one wheel. press the backing plate and wheel together and see if it stops leaking. That is how i found my leak. I put a shim on the bolt on the open side of the wheel to pull the wheel up tight. You can lock the bolt in place when you get it right with the set screws on the brake backing plate.

I have leave off my hubcaps to get to work right. I have a little bit of drag also but it will stop better. It will not lock up.

Thanks for the reply Marc, on the bench it has some drag, but it is not stoping the plane enough ,I fly on a grass field which I would think created a little more drag than pavement and it needs more braking power I don't notice any difference between 7.4 or 11.1 volts. I have not tried the air brakes at the field yet but I dont think there would be much difference

Thanks Again

There is a guy I met up at Michigan Jets name Curtis who has the Tomahawk Hawk help me with my brakes there. He notice the landing gear was a little different but he said the brakes were very much the same with the oring.
