Has Anyone had The same Problem with the Troy Built DV8R Gear that I have had.

1. ONE of the Main strut has a 30 degree rotation from stop to stop it looks like it the set screw is not holding at all have taken a closere look and there are only one set screw in place.

2. The Nose and one of the Main gear stop working at 60 psi they just stop moveing at 60 psi. and there are no leak at all, it is not looking good at all.

3. The Tire on the Main gear wobble from side to side looks like the Tire is comeing off.

4. The brakes are very lite below 90 psi.

Sorry to be a complainer but 600.00 Retracts that have had no Q.C. are looking like it could cost much much much more when the gear fail's and it destroys 3000.00 turbine?????

Anyone useing the Serria retracts????

you need to go thru the entire set of retracts, struts and wheels. Locktite everything.

TBM needs to get these issues resolved on the retracts. They also need them to be about one inch longer. The sierra retracts are the same length, just better quality. Despite what anyone says, the stock strut lengths are too short and if you get into the bouncing thing, risk hitting the tail which migh cause the elevator servos to strip out like mine did. When loaded, they leave very little room for rotation or flair on landing. Can't imagine if I went with another turbine that was another 1.5-2lbs heavier.

IF I was going to go with retracts again, I would go with the behotec units, c-50 with struts. They are almost ident. to these ones. However you can get them in the right length.

The other thing TBM needs to do is disclose the true weight of the DV8R. I was told 22lbs RTF minus fuel. I am at 26 lbs minus fuel and I built it very light. 4 lbs over? Gravity must pull stronger down here!

There should be two set screws on the bottom strut, and one on the retract to hold the 8mm pin in place.

Also, I put some grease on the springs in the struts as they were already rusted. This let it move freely up and down.

I replaced the front spring with one that had about half the tension then the mains. The nose sits fairly light on the front wheel so this helps to absorb bumps when taxing.

I have been flying jet for three years now and am in the habbit of setup my landing pattern with landing Flaps on down wind and adjusting power to be setup on final with full flaps.
I am not sure if this aircraft need 3.5 " of flaps as the manual recommends.

Default RE: TBM DV8R anyone have one or about too?

I have a 900' paved runway. However because of property near by, we have to make our downwing leg short so as not to overfly the property. What I have found on my jet is that no matter what I did I could not get it slowed down enough without it bouncing. If you are landing on grass, I would think the grass helps keep the dv8r planted. However pavement caused my dv8r to bounce very bad. I have flown so many different airplanes, jets and never had this issue as bad as the dv8r. However, after talking with several guys that had the orginal one that exp. the same thing I decided to setup crow. Huge diff! I can now deploy crow, and use only about half the runway to land now. Simply turned this jet into a very slow landing jet. I am sure if you have flaps setup and can make a long approach to get all speed bled off you will be fine. However in my case I needed the crow to get the jet not only slowed down but not bounce on landing.

Have others flown theres? IF so, please report back on how everything went.

I tried to land without flaps, half flaps and the full 3.5" of flaps. Flaps helped slow it down, but it wanted to keep flying. If you can make long approaches and get the speed bled off I think you will be ok, but from talking to others that have flown the dv8r most of them had problems with the bouncing thing going on.

What turbine are you running on it?

Jetcat P120sx installed in the DV8R Hope to fly for 8 or 9 Mins with throtlle management will see. I have seen the video here on the thread and it looks as if the bounce is from exessive Air speed on final. I have a BVM Bobcat and it is a super flying jet 40 flight on it so far and it will slow down very slow with Crow flap 50 degrees and Ailerons 3/4" up it really works well.

I like use about 5 degrees of Positive pitch angle and adjust power to hold a rate if decient and when i have the runway made pull power it idle a flair.

I am hope this aircraft has no bad habits.

Did you glue the stab and rudder stab on the or make them removeable I think TBM web has a video saying they can be setup to be removeable.

Thanks for the info about Crow have much are you using???
