HFM12-MX+R6014FS ON MX-22
Hi,
I HAVE BOUGHT THE FUTABA 2.4GHZ HFM12-MX MODULE AND THE R6014FS RX FOR MY GRAUPNER/JR MX-22 . I MANAGED TO GET THEM ALL WORKING PERFECT EXCEPT THE FAILSAFE FUNCTION. ACTUALLY I WANT THE CONTROL SURFACES TO RETURN TO NEUTRAL POSITION AND NOT STAYING TO THE LAST VALID SIGNAL CONDITION. IN BOTH F/S AND HOLD(NORMAL) MODES THE SURFACES ARE STAYING AS THEY WERE WHEN I SWITCHED THE TX OFF TO SIMULATE THE SIGNAL LOST CONDITION. ANY HELP ON THIS PLEASE??
THANKS

hello niko
i read your email.
i have no expirienc with this radio and this modul
anyway you DONT want your sufraces to return in neutral. this will get you in big troble.
you want them to stay in the last position(hold)
anly your throtle must be on f/s to return on idle

RE: HFM12-MX+R6014FS ON MX-22
thanks george and paul,
paul do i have to set anything on throttle channel i.e reverse it or something else to go to idle during failsafe operation or it does it auto after setting it up as per module instructions??

I have the same system and it works fine. The weakness is in the failsafe system though...with just the throttle channel programmable, it means that when a 3-pos switch is used icw the throttle to control run-cool-shut down (as with my AMT Mercury, for example) you can't set the failsafe to engine off. This is one of the reasons I've ressurected my MC 24 and converted it to Weatronic. I will confirm, though, that the FASST (RASST) module/14 ch Futaba Rx set up used with my MX-22 has worked well for almost a year now, with no problems.

It must be an interaction with the Multiplex Tx, on my 12FG the fail safe on the throttle works perfectly even with the three position switch enabled on a JetCat, ask Paul Heckles he flew my Elan with the P80 in it and when selecting retracts it went into fail safe, because of an incorrect programming function by me for idle up.
Having now written this down has provoked some thought on the matter, it was the ECU that shut the turbine down due to the throttle curve going outside the "Learn RC" limits I will have to look at the Tx/Rx fail safe again, I will put a servo on the throttle channel and see what happens.

lookilook,
If I remember correctly, you just position the throttle where you want the failsafe position to be, and hold the Rx button in for a few seconds.
I use the 2 position switch above the right stick as an engine start/ stop switch, mixing it with the throttle to effectively provide a throttle trim. I never use the (digital) throttle trim itself.

IMO using the throttle trim is the safest way to stop and start a turbine, less chance of inadvertantly hitting the switch, when going for the retracts or something, in the programming of the 12FG you can make the digital trim have a minimum of segments between high and low, this gives you about 4 steps and is almost as quick as hitting a switch.
