R.A.F. Red Arrows loss
The Royal Air Force aerobatic team (The Red Arrows) lost an aircraft today (Pilot ejected safely) during a practice session in Crete.
I believe the team are based at the Hellenic Air Force Base at Kastelli for their pre season work up, they left RAFScampton on Saturday with 10 aircraft and the Hercules support aircraft.
I believe the pilot has only minor injuries, not that any injury due to the ejection sequence should be taken likely, good luck to the pilot and the team for the coming season.
Alistair.

According to http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/news...-in-Crete.html it seems to have been a mid-air - with one of the aircraft landing safely while the pilot of the other ejected and has a dislocated shoulder.

RE: R.A.F. Red Arrows loss
Don't flame me for this, I'm gutted they lost a hawk and glad everyone is ok, but I still found the following funny!!
An investigation into the Red Arrows mid-air collision has revealed pilot Flight Lieutenant Kirsty Moore's make-up bag was open in her cockpit.
Moore caused controversy when she joined the elite squadron earlier this year and turned up for her first flight in a mini skirt crop top and stilettos.
Squadron Leader Dave Manning said 'There was a bit of joking about it. Kirsty was asked to change into something more suitable and asked if 'flatties' or her Ugg boots would be alright.
'But on the other hand we have always made allowances for her.
'She has yet to learn how to taxi the Hawk jet, and usually gets out of the cockpit at the end of the runway and asks someone else to park it for her.
'Kirsty also doesn't like to wear a helmet on Thursday afternoons, which is when she gets her hair done.'
Manning added: 'She is also not very good with technical terms - for example she calls the jet exhaust ''the place where all the hot air whizzes out.'
