check the Joe nall thread. Fan did not blow up. I got greedy on the elevator for the given speed, it happens. Not the airframes fault, or bvm.

a jet should be flown with precision and discipline , if you think
you need to " pull hard on the elevator " maybe you should learn
to fly a 40 size trainer first ... just a thought

Ron, are you saying that your jets can take being yanked that hard going 199.+? If you do that very often I'm sure you won't be enjoying those jets very long. I don't care who makes it. BVM doesn't represent his jets as being impurvious to any type of abuse. I don't think they ever have. Even the Bandits and Bobcats can be flown outside their envelopes.

Anthony I have purchased one of these kits before. For far more than 8K and if I would have seen a video like this that would have never happened. Thank god I sold it. My beef is that this is a jet and no-one in the jet community has seen this. I think Dustin is a nice guy and is taking all the fire for his employer. If the kit can not handle the power plant sold for it, it should be disclosed to the buyers. Not covered up buy the CO. that built it.

I can not believe the amount of press this crash is receiving. I think some die hard turbine guys are starting to see what fun electrics can be. Too bad it came at the expense of my personal jet. With out the crash nobody would have ever posted the video of it flying.

Dihedrial- the Electra does have a buch of dihedrial. I don't remember exactly but it looks fine to me.

"was this a "one" time occurance of pulling to many G's on the airframe, or was this something that had been done numerous times in the past, and this is just the time the airframe decided to give up?"

I have a great idea. Let's organize a fly off between you and Ron. While we are at it, lets get SKS to video the match. After it's over, Scott will be able to produce crasher 6, 7, 8 and 9 while you take the one plane you brought with you home...still in one piece.

I feel bad for Dustin and BVM
BVM has years and years with an outstanding flight record... one plane is flown to it's limit and everyone jumps on board to give them hell
there are three different sites all over this and one even has two threads on the same topic
I see this as a none issue.... flew to the limit and broke any plane would do the same

Enough with the thin skins. A plane crashed, a few questions were asked. I love Electras, Bandits, etc. Great airframes! Aside from being bummed myself about the loss of a really nice jet, I don't see the harm of a few guys pondering and having a discussion about a model airplane that basically disintegrated in front of a crowd while the airshow announcer is badgering the pilot to go lower and faster.
Is this sort of discussion off limits for some people, or if it happens to some other people? We are all in the hobby together. If it bears talking about, it will get talked about. There is no reason to make it personal, but quite possibly there may be aspects here that can go in the collective brain bucket for "the next time". Things to think about. I know I thought about a few things I've done or may do differently as a result of seeing this video myself. My personal opinion is if I fly and don't learn something I've wasted a flight and possibly found myself to be complacent; so time to get back on the horse and start learning again.

Reminded me of Shui's crash with that Ultra bandit a few years back. Very sad. But awesome looking. Jesus people crash real aircraft with less grief than he's getting. Leave em alone! Mind your businesses.
