I also haven't purchased a turbine flyer yet, but this puts Jet Legend at the top of the list for stepping up like they did on this one!

Well done!

Hello,

Has the stabilator pivot point been moved forward in the new F-20 kits?

And is this an F-20 only or is there a jetlegend F-5?

Regards,

Hi Matt,

The pivot point had been moved forward in the new stabs. There is only F-20 from JL.

The jet modeling community is appreciative of this admission, unfortunately, if it was not for this forum, the problem would go unrecognized. Let's not forget how this all started. The guy who started this had the same elevvator problem with the JL large f-15 and the design and construction is inferior as is in the f-20. How i know is from the pictures on this forum are identical to the crashed elevator on the F-15 and I am sure the pivot tube is too far aft. I hope JL looks at the f-15 elevator too.

Although JL agreed to replace the planes, I still don't trust
these guys. Due to the fact that if it wasn't by the pressure
excerted in this forum, they would have done nothing. As other
manufacturers.

Matt,

I'm not sure just what you meant by your last post. Let me enlighten you about CamLex and their FIRST RATE customer service. While Jet Legend was cogitating about what to do with the F-20 elevator problem, CamLex stepped forward and offered to replace my lost airframe at no cost to me. This was at least 3 weeks before JL came out with their recent announcement. This is what I call taking care of their customer. Don't belittle their customer service - there isn't enough of it in this industry. I'm very satisfied with CamLex and how they have handled this situation. I wish all manufacturers and dealers were as responsive.

Great guys or just business reality hitting home?

What they have realised, with the help of jet flyers getting together & complaining on a public forum, is that if you sell a faulty product & if the word gets around that your product is crap nobody will buy your product & you will go broke.

It sucks that it took so long for them to do something about it.

Ian- hope you are one of the recipients of this generous offer
Generous? Or saving their own hides?

And the thousands you lost with a trashed turbine & radio.................

Yes Nick, they are making it right. Right now I am staring down the barrel of a possible SU-27 but the Mig-29 and F-35 are making strong cases

All very valid points John. I think without this forum all I would be left with right now is the switch pin to my SmartFly still in my shorts pocket.

Sorry Ian, didn't mean you in particular. Still, if your elevators go the Fritz there's a good chance you are going to crash so hard that dust will come out of your transmitter & all that will be left of your model is memories. John.

To all whom it may concern:

As management of the Jetlegend company we were shocked to hear about the crashes of the F20’s, produced by our company. When we received the clear information we started an investigation.

Jetlegend has been in model jet business for more than ten years; this is the first time that we are confronted with so many crashes of one model.
After the first message reached us through our network, we initially suspected that the plane might have been overpowered or had seen unusual high G maneuvers beyond the limit of the plane. As the first information only mentioned one case it was regarded as an incident.

As with any plane presented to the market, the F20 went through our standard test program. It had many test flights powered by a Jetcat P120 jet engine. After the crash report we had at least 20 test flights, pushing the test plane to the limits, but no signs of problems were detected.

After following reports we tried to find the limits of the design and/or manufacturing and we then decided to use a Jetcat P160 to fly again. This test was done recently, in which the first 5 flights were ok, but in the 6th flight, during a high speed low pass, the plane developed a problem. After landing the investigation revealed that the elevator was loose, but fortunately was still working. It was concluded that the elevator couldn’t hold up at high speeds with a P160, but we wondered why the F20 with P120 was also having problems in the field as reported in a few customers’ cases.

We checked the static thrust on the test plane and found that our P120, installed in the F20, gave significant less output than rated.

We apology to the customers who crashed a F20 produced by us; the problem occurred due to our design and not having stressed it enough during testing. We do take responsibility for that.

For those customers who crashed a Jetlegend produced F20, Jetlegend is offering a free-of-charge replacement by any model from the Jetlegend range, including landing gear.

To those customers who bought our F20, but did not get it in the air yet, improved replacement parts will be send free-of-charge as soon as possible.

We would like to apologize sincerely to all effected customers for the losses and for the missed flying fun.

In order to avoid similar situation happening in the future, there will be review of construction methods and testing procedures.

We, as Jetlegend management team, hope that above mentioned actions are sufficient to restore the confidence in our products and company and we wish all many successful model jet flights.

Best regards

Jetlegend management team

I have one of the first production f-22's with the original style vertical stabilizers. The original only had room for a very small servo and 3 hinges. I had heard of problems with rudder flutter. I was on my 5th flight using a p-120 and the rudder pulled off in flight which pulled the tail out of its clamps and bent the aluminum spars that were holding it and almost pulled it off the plane. I was fortunate to land it with out a problem. I know the new improved one has five or six hinges and the servo tray was moved so the customer can put a larger servo in. Were these vertical stabilizers recalled? I got a quote to replace them for $320.00. Can you assist me with this issue? This is the red f-22 you had on the Jetlegend website.

Sincerely,

Eddie Rutledge

Exactly right, and to add another JL problem, my friends brand new JL F-16 just lost the rudder in flight. This was hinged and glued at the factory. Here we go again.

Perfect. The relative cost to J-L in the short term will pay off for many years to come with loyal customers.

Well done.
