Default Anybody like the Field Force One from DreamworksRC?

I just came across the Field Force One and it looks pretty cool! I'm going to buy one unless somebody tells me it's a dog! Comments please?

Both myself and my warbird buddy each bought one from Todd at Florida Jets.

Very cool I'd say. I'm real happy with mine and my friend's is working well too.

Save your money. Basically the Same unit at Amozon for $84 or you could put a BVM sticker on it and pay $500 if you want.

It's not completely the same. Todd's has two set's of plugs on the side for banana plugs or wire connectors.

Actually, its probably closer to this one as it has the 400 watt inverter and the $84 is 200 watts. Still, only $90.

I just read some of the reviews on Amazon and I'm not sure I would buy this thing at all! Some of the experiences are frightening!

I've got a decent pump.. i'd just like a decent power supply system (12v) that will charge some batteries and power an air-pump for a weekend without needing charged..

this is the best inflator that I have found. I love it. I've tried others but this one beats all I have tried. The charge will last for weeks. I use a 12volt car battery with a built in carry handle for charging.

I had one of these units - I did not get it from Dreamworks. The air compressor lasted less than one season and the battery and inverter less than two...

Looks hearty. What did you do to step down the hose to a standard airline hose?

I cut off the tire fitting and put on a long 3' robart 3mm airline tubing with a fitting. I use the Robart screw on filler for the most part but you could put any fitting on it that you choose.

Another reason I like it is that it has an air guage on the pump. I don't use those airguages on the jets because I air up every flight anyway. They seem rather useless to me.

The way I do it, is to simply use the exact same Schraeder valve that I would install in the aircraft, and plug that into the supplied connector. The heavy duty hose stays completely inside the compressor housing, with just a small slit being cut to let the flexi-hose out. Then I use quick-connectors in-line before the adapter that actually screws into the valve inside the aircraft, because that way I can very quickly switch from one connector type to another as needed. The compartment on the end of the compressor is a perfect location for all of these extra adapter hoses to be kept.

I've learned not to trust the gauges on these particular pumps. They can suddenly become wildly inaccurate, and so I now only ever trust my on-board gauges. The last of these compressors that I eventually threw away when its battery died, would read 65 PSI while not connected to anything !

If you keep your eyes open, you can often get deals on these compressors. The last 2 that I picked up were $29 each, with free shipping. I think the best deal I've seen recently is $49 + shipping, but if you are patient you can do better.

They're also available at Harbor Freight and periodically go on sale for $69.99.

I got one of these from Dreamworks and I like it a lot.  Only wished that the invertor was rated at 110-220v instead of only 110v.  Since I live in India, the invertor is useless for me, unless someone can modify it for me.

I had one before Todd started carrying them. The inverter quit right away.

That Campfield pump is also at Home Depot for $39 right now. Just picked one up. Also use the long standard airline and works like a charm. But am interested in post 10. WHere can I cet Aeropoxy for less?
Best,
D

Todd says he has shaved his Hysol margins to the bone. I trust him completely.

Go to dreamworks.

I use a ball inflator, the needle you buy in a pack of three at Walmart for $1. I thread a piece of airline on the needle, and put the other end in the inflator hose. With three, I can use one for the basic airline for the BVM type filler, and another for the Robart end. No need to cut the end off of the hose, that way I can use the pump for other things if I want. I bought my pump for $30 at Walmart, and it has lasted htree years. Charge it up and it lasts for weeks.

Yep, you can get it from McMaster Carr for $12.16 or if you go to quantities above 18, from Ellsworth for $11.15 [link=http://www.ellsworth.com/display/productdetail.html?productid=1041]http://www.ellsworth.com/display/productdetail.html?productid=1041[/link] but none of that is really worth the trouble so I just stick a cartridge or two on every other Dreamworks order and be done with it...
