Need ideas for dumping air
Got an EV5 multi-valve and want to dump all air after landing in order to maximize the life of the sensors. I'm using the BVM air fill valve, so its seems I can't use that to dump the air. In the past I have used the Robart air fill valve, which allow you to dump the air from it. Ideas?

One type of festo check valves only "checks" when one end has no tube inserted. It's meant to be used as a fill valve and if u insert a tube in the second end it releases the check valve inside. U could tee one of those in somewhere.
Or, more simply, U could install a Robart quick disconnect somewhere to dump your air at the end of the day.

Edger,
I use a Robart quick connect just after the fill valve or before your electronic valve system. You just twist it off and let the air out. You can also use a valve on a tee .

Hello:
Why you no use the FESTO conectors ??? I use manometer FESTO too.
Regards from Spain.

I have the EVS too, I dump mine after every session too. I went a little over board on what I did price wise.. But I had them laying around. I Tee'd the BVM Air Micro Switch ( BVM5753 ) on both systems. At the end of the day I just push the button and it dumps the air. All the other idea's post so far sound great too and definitely cheaper !!!!!!!
Good Luck

BTW,.. On my EVS valve the pressure display on the brake side was stopping at 32psi when dumping.Even when empty it stilled showed 32psi. I didn't fly it for about 3 weeks, and now the display is back to normal.... Go figure...[sm=confused.gif] Works normal now !!!

I use the robart air line quick disconnect with check valves for the connection between my compressor and my planes. To purge the system, I just use a screwdriver to press inside the quick disconnect. All air escapes quickly.
This said, I wonder if that's really necessary. The valve purges all the pressurized lines when you turn it off. I suspect they do that to save the sensors. Maybe Todd or the manufacturer could confirm or explain why the valve does that.

You are right... When you switch it off, the valve does dump all the air in the retracts, doors, and brakes. But the sensors measure tank pressure on the input side of the valve. Pressure in tank, means pressure on sensors. You have to dump the air tanks.

I disagree with dumping the air unless Todd sates otherwise. This is just a regular impedance-pressure (piezo-resistance)sensor. The life of these should outlast ours. I do use, however, a moisture trap from Dreamworks. Any moisture into the sensor WILL decay life.

Edgar,
Just install a Fei-Bao door cylinder somewhere and it will all leak out in no time.

to eliminate moisture, you can use a CO2 bottle and valve. I have used it for two years. You have to be very gentle filling with it though. Use a bare hose inserted into a bv valve and fill slowly to 100psi. THe bottle is under 3000psi, so be careful, but once you get the technique down, its very easy. got the idea from Ron Ballard at WrenUSA

RE: Need ideas for dumping air
just put you a cheap inline cock valve to shut off pressure going to the valve or put a T in the line and use the cock valve to dump it (like the propane side of the turbine)
