Got mine on a friends 1st generation Rookie with a P80...thanks Jim. Today for a first jet I would recommend any Boomer, Falcon 120, or Reaction 54 for those that want to build.

I got mine on a second hand BVM Bobcat composite- hard to go wrong there. I do think that this is better than the original Bobcat versions, though there are less expensive ways to get a good flying plane to learn and build experience with as others have suggested. The boomeran Elan looks to have a lot going for it in this regard.
Just as important(if not more) are the local pilots who can help you out. In our case, the Woodland Davis club near Sacramento has a wealth of knowledge in this area and I had help/advice from several members. Scott, starter of this thread was especially helpful to me with understanding the operation of the Jetcat motors. Dan Avilla, Forrest Barton, Jim Adams, among others come to mind.

Great Planes Patriot 40 with a OS 61 FSR, tuned pipe, retracts and flaps with the throttle servo delay set to 5 seconds. Turbine ground school with a WREN 54 kit engine. First turbine flight was a BVM T33 with a tired RAM750. Took off flew for 5 mins and came in for a perfect landing. Sometimes it seems like it has been downhill ever since. Scotty

I got my turbine waiver on a BVM DF Maverick, with the first turbine being a BVM F-16 with a Mamba air start(d@mn scuba tank to lug around).
I recommend any of the Boomerang jets, even the Foremost 160 provided you do a complete wing tube replacement from one wing to the other.

Oh Yea, My waiver number is 680!! Pretty low number! Way lower than David Reids!! But not Kevin Whitlows!!
Reid still had on his training wheels and diapers when I was flying turbines!! LOL!!

I don't think the numbers have anything to do with when you got it. I have had mine since 99, Vernon, Dennis and I got them all about the same time. Who cares anyway your still wearing the diapers, and really need training wheels! BTW you want some sort of prize for the lower number?
Hugs and Kisses!

I got mine just last month using my first jet, a Ziroli Turbinator modified into a semi-scale TS-11 Iskra. It's powered by a jet central rabbit and has been everything I had hoped. Easy to fly to get my feet wet with jets, but still an unusual scale subject. The market is lacking in scale looking trainer jets, so I built my own.
