Default Skymaster Pro F-15 or GJC F-15 jet legend????

Guys, I had started an earlier thread about f-15's. I wish I could spend for the YA F-15 or Avond, but they are a bit out of my price range at this time. With that said, of the two listed jets Skymaster F-15 or GJC jet legend F-15 what are your opinions of these two jets? Would be nice if someone that had either seen or flown both chime in here.

I will have a 31lb thrust turbine for power. It's a lighter class turbine. However, I am having a hard time making my mind up between the two jets. I have done lots of research on both and they both have their minor issues.

So any suggestions would be appreciated.

Also, if someone knows the weight difference between the two that would be great as well.

Thanks
Larry

never had a skymaster jet as yet but i am in the middle of building a jet legend f15 and it seems to be a strong aircraft that will take a engine from 12lb to 36 lb all the supplied hardware is of a good quaility not flown it yet but i do know they fly very well.

the two jets are pretty much identical, the GJC version has a few upgrades and the seams have all been sanded/filled which IMO is a big plus.

I've flown both GJC and Skymaster and the Yellow. Between GJC and Skymaster I have to say they felt about the same when flying them. Not sure on weight differences between the two but should not be by much since they are only about 1 inch or so difference for wingspan and length. Unless one company soaks it with resin weights should be pretty simular.

Honestly you cant go wrong with either. I'd say go with the one you can afford. I've not looked up the price difference but if they are close then probably go with the company who's parts are available.
Mike Lin would be a good source to speak to if you've not spoke to him yet. I think he has one up and flying right now here in the US or China.

Sorry for not giving much info but hope it helps.

Regards,

Orlando, thanks for your input.

I purchased the GJC F-15. They have updated there gear to make them stronger. I also like the fact that they lay in carbon fiber in areas that may need it and that there control surfaces are hinged, not skin hinged. Nothing wrong with skin hinging, just like the robart type hinges. Easier to work on if something was to happen. I am sure either kit would have been great.

I am going to go with the Skymaster F-15. I did inquire about the GJC one, but they don't do it in the scheme that I want in the GJC version. Mike said Feibao makes it, but I think I Skymaster is better quality than the Feibao.

What sceme are you wanting?

Mike told me that his painter can pretty much do any scheme.

I was wanting the black and grey one the skymaster has, and was going to have Mike have one painted up...but I bypassed that as if I decide that I want that scheme it can be easily painted.

I want the Blue JASDF 50th Anniversary. Mike told me that they don't do that scheme in the GJC one and I would have to go to FBjets for that one. Yes I would think that they would be able to paint it that way, but I guess not.

That is a cool looking one.

When you get it, would be cool to see a build thread on it. I will be doing a build thread on mine as there was not much info on either one of these jets (the newest style and revision).

I have the SM F 15, with evobooster 130 turbine. Fly's well and weight is about 12kg without fuel... If money allowed i'd go for the avonds, weight of that one is around 10kg, wich is a huge difference...

I went with the GJC F-15. I have already started work on it. Everything looks very nice and well built. The flying stab mechanism in the tail is very nice. The only issue I have seen so far is the metal clevis that are included with the kit don't fit the flying stab alum. bell crank. That is ok as I like to use my own hardware most of the time.

Will post pictures when I get a chance

had the same problem with mine, had to take the frame apart (i recommend you check the tightness of the 4 bolts/nuts holding it to the former, mine were only finger tight and allowed flexing) and remove the bell-crank and then machined it down thinner to allow the clevis to close far enough to get the E-clip on, then had some problems with the pins in the supplied clevises breaking so i ended up drilling new holes (smaller size) and using Sullivan gold clevis, you don't want to loose a stab in flight.

Thanks, good to know I am not the only one that had this issue. Yep, had to take the alum. mounts out. I thought about shaving them down, but after grabbing the pin with a pair of needle nose and was not much trouble pulling the pin loose, I decided to use a dubro 4-40 ball link that is captured by a washer so it can't pop off. I don't like using ball links on stuff like this because of the offset, however everything is pretty stout so I am using them.

I will change out the clevis on the other links witht he dubro black plastic clevis that have the little slide that locks. I would think these would be ok right?

i thought about using a ball link but the offset of the ball link made the pushrod sit at an awkward angle or hit the small hole it has to go through to get to the servo.
