Need to speak with someone about a 15
Can someone PM me regarding the yellow or avonds F-15.
I'm looking for an ARF and would like to know total cost for everything but electronics and power.
Seems like there are slot of options with these companies. I've only bought/flown Skymaster so far.
Thanks! Pete

Hi,
In the case of the Yellow, the ARF comes with all air cylinders included, painted and installed. Mind you, this is not in the style of some of the more recent ARFs with pre-installed equipment (as in you don't need to remove them in order to install them properly or replace them for ones that don't leak as these cylinders are among the best available anywhere) The canopy and speed-brake are hinged (as are all flying surfaces) and the spring-loaded canopy locks are also installed. The price of the ARF, and the additional needed items are:
ARF: $2190
Gear: $450
W/B: $215
Pipe: $350
Tanks: $100
Valves: $180 (This is a combination of the UP-2 and UP-4. Some prefer electronic valves or even a UP-2 with a BVM micro air switch.
We are down to our last two if you're interested, and I do offer a small discount. Hope this helps!

I vote for the Avonds. I have been flying one of his all composite versions for 4 years and it is dead nuts on scale, light weight, and flies like a dream. You can get lots of super scale details from him including totally scale gear (all the doors and the mains rotate). Operating canopy, speedbrakes and flaps are options. You can make the ailerons operable but who needs them, it flies great with only tailerons. Mine weighs 26# dry and uses a Jet Central Eagle.

Tom,
You stick to Raptors!! I thought I dealt with that "dead nuts" theory in that other thread? Additionally, I just calculated the cost to get the Avonds ARF to the level of completion of ours, and it came out to more than $5k. That doesn't include the work of actually assembling the bird (building the working control surfaces, mounting the canopy into the frame then hinging it, doing up the speed brake, etc.) or painting/detailing it. Nearly all of the items they sell as 'extras' come included with ours. So there. [8D]
Pete,
In all seriousness, Avonds makes a phenomenal F-15. Their F-15 is one of the easiest, best flying jets ever made. Can't go wrong.

Ford vs. Chev.....Oh well, you got me on the price. PA is neither cheap or easy but I really like it. However....it doesn't outfly the YA Raptor. When more guys start seeing the Raptor fly they will park their Eagles, Vipers and Bugs. The quality of the YA kits in relation to their price make them a great value. OK Shaun, hows that!

I had one here (belonged to a friend) It was a glass fuselage with foam wings, and tail.
The underside did not appear to be scale at all. It didn't seem to have enough depth between the two exhausts.
Might be the difference between the original design, and the all composite one.

Hi,
The newer ones definitely are more scale (on the underside) than the originals. You can see pics of the bottom of the plane on PA's web site.
Tom,
That'll do........

Yes, , , thanks Shaun, , , I checked it and found a picture of both versions.
- The all composite is indeed much better.
I'd sit and cringe everytime I read someone's post on how scale the first Avonds F15 was.
You can clearly see how terrible the underside actually is, , , nowhere near scale.
I guess it was made mostly flatter in the midddle to get the fan in, and maintaing some kind of acceptable power to weight limit.
- The first picture is the composite one - looks good now
- The second picture is the foam wings version, , still available, and definitly not scale.

The Avonds jets are not really ARF, there is plenty of building to do so maybe the Yellow would be the way to go. My Eagle is a no stress flying machine and I would imagine the Yellow one would be as well. Both benefit from the high wing design and washout in the wing. You will have fun either way you go.
