Yet Another Yellow Aircraft F-15 ARF Assembly Thread!
Hi,
I will be putting together another F-15 ARF, and I thought I would share. Please feel free to chime in with questions, comparisons, pics, etc. I've recently been arguing that the Yellow F-15 is the world's finest ARF Eagle, and I hope the assembly and photos bear out the theory.

Here are some pics. At the risk of seeming like an ad, this post is going to point out some of the differences between this ARF and some of the less expensive F-15 ARFs out there.
In these pics, you can see how the ARF comes out of the box. The doors, which are semi-scale in that there is no operating third door a la the rotating-gear ones. Note the way the hinge is glued on. On some ARF's, there is a glob of glue under the hinge that looks like a kindergartner did it. These are very neatly and evenly glued.

Hi,
Here are some more pics of the fuse. In the first pic, you can see the 'titanium' simulation on the engine fairings and the various markings. In the second pic, you can see the very scale exhaust cones with the actuator rods. These are removable by simply twisting them. In between them is the arrestor hook housing (absent on the PA eagle). On some blocks of F-15C's, there is an electronic apparatus on the starboard tail stinger, which we simulate on this model.

Hi,
A few more pics. You can see the canopy hinge method here. Those forks slide onto two 'bolts' on the fuse, and away you go. It's very easy to remove the canopy completely for access or whatever.

More pics....
These show the trays that are pre-installed in the fuse. One is in the nose and carries your valves and servos, steering servo, etc. It's already fixed with screws and such, and you simply extract it to mount your goodies to it. There is also another tray behind the canopy in between the inlets. This tray usually carries your engine accessories, UAT, etc. Again, it's completely built and installed. No drilling, gluing or screws to install.

One interesting thing about these planes is that they're individually hand-built from our kits. Because of that, no two are ever exactly alike. The first one I ever had had the stock (per instructions) hatch hold-down method. The second one had wires inside tubes. You pulled the wires out to get the hatch off. This latest one has a really cool gizmo. It's got pins in the front, and a spring loaded dual pin in the rear which is totally concealed by the hatch and the speed brake.

Have been very happy with my Yellow ARF F15 over the last few years.
I do like the improved canopy hinge and hatch retention though. Might modify my hatch to that, the wires work but the new idea is so much simpler and like you said why did I not think of it
Anyone thinking of a Yellow ARF f15 do it you will not regret it

I have to agree with you guys. The yellow F15 is the best pre-built F15 out there by a mile! Calling it an ARF does not do it justice......it is the best custom built jet I have ever seen, and I have seen a few
. I love my yellow F15 and the scale fidelity out of the box is off the hook! My mate loved mine so much he bought one before he was even solo on his jets and when he got his, it made me want another one......oh crap, just realised I have an illness!!
I would say the same about the Big F18 arf too. I have not fitted mine out yet but it is fantastic and for the money, both of these kits are good value.
I am not a rep but a satisfied customer with quite a few yellow models.....come to think of it, maybe I would qualify for the job.
Show us yer build Shaun! Bring it on!! Much better than reading about guys self righteously slam dunking each other on this forum (yawn)

Does anyone have any pics or description of where the 2 plywood pipe bulkheads go? I am assuming that they support the pipe somewhere near the exhaust nozzles but they are too large to fit inside the removable parts of the exhaust. Maybe they attach to the fuse bulkhead back there?

Those bolt/screw on from inside the fuse, at the aft-most bulkhead. What I do is take a sanding drum and grind two notches on the outside of the ring to clear the nuts that hold the tail-cone mounting bolts to. That way, the rings can sit flush on the inside of the aft bulkhead. I drill two 1/16" holes through the bulkhead and the support rings at the 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock positions, then drill another counter-sink hole 5/32" halfway through the bulkhead. I then used #2x1/2" socket head screws to bolt the rings down from the inside, and the counter-sink holes will allow the screw head to lay flush with the bulkhead. Then insert the pipe and start going to town on the inner radius of the ring with your sanding drum until you got the pipe where you want it. Install your tail-cones back and you're done. Hope this helps.
