RE: P-20 Airframe Thread
You have to see this thread and video of a magnificent scratch built Horten (with Kolibri T-20) ! :

The thread in German language unfortunately but the pictures say a thousand words.

RE: P-20 Airframe Thread
Thanks for posting, what a fantastic flying machine and perfect for the Kolibri. Looks from the video that the dolly was a problem hence the bugee launch. With very light wing loading and low drag it is a superb flying machine. Nice to see something that has not been modelled before. The camera work also was very good.

RE: P-20 Airframe Thread
Hi John,
I am happy you saw the post, wanted to send you a PM about it but wasn't sure about the correct spelling of your RCU-name (there are about six "Jwrights" (or similar) active here on RCU [X(] - very procreative hobby family worldwide, it seems - .
Your own (big) Horten is one of the highlights of any show, I truly enjoyed the few flights both of you were making at the Pampa meeting, superb curves in the air and something totally different. We could all also "smell" the stressy moment for the pilot when the gear comes down ad the pilot has his hands full compensating the drag and keeping it straight gliding to the runway. What a joy seeing it flying.
Anyway, I hope and understood this smaller Horten will be flown and shown at JetPower2010 in a few weeks.
To me, it clearly shows once again that we are quite often looking for available airplane models for this range of turbines which are way too small.
It ends up with pocket rockets with a too high wing loading.
Without a doubt, a JetCat P-20 or Lambert Kolibri T20/T25 must be easily handling some kind of Zagi of 3 meter wing span as well.
See you at JP. And bring the Horten, please.
Nicolas.

Thanks for the kind remarks about the Horten. Yes we still get a buzz out of flying the Horten even after over a year flying it. I am sorry that I shall not be able to come to JetPower this year because of family commitments. However, I am now working hard on the engines for my new project. This will hopefully be even more spectacular, it is about the same size as the Horten but with multiple engines. I guess it will be a while before we see more than 2 P20's on a plane!

RE: P-20 Airframe Thread
Finally got over to my dad's place tonight and picked up the Sapac/Topgun Viperjet with retracts, oleos and brakes. Very impressed! very nice model and an ideal candidate for Kolibri/P20 conversion. Size comparison with the Sapac/Topgun L39 and Super Bandit shows its small size but there is certainly enough room for all the equipment and fuel. Looks like i will be busy as he wants both set up for turbine use.

Marc,
I like your thinking. The Rutan Ares would be my pick!
I'm building an EJets Eliminator for 90mm edf, but I bet a P-20 would make this good looking sport jet fly really great!

Something different at 46.5 span... Rutan Ares, or a more norm L39 at 48'' span

RE: P-20 Airframe Thread
Looks like a mini bandit - cool ! who makes it ? is it for EDF \ micro turbine ? any more details ?
The jet will debut at Jetpower in a few weeks, it will be for 90mm EDF or P20/Kolibri turbine.
Glass fuselage, glass/airex sandwich wings, fin, stabs, live hinges (kevlar).
Landing gear will be available custom made for this jet.
If you are planning to go to Jetpower pop onto the GBRJET stand, should have two with us. If not send me a PM and I will let you have the info when its all finalised.
