Cheers, I'm just glad I changed my mind and didn't go with the Libyan scheme that I initially was going to use.

KK clear coat has been applied the the underside of everything bar the main fuselage section.....currently awaiting new stock of KK, so can't get any further until that arrives.
Everything apart from the upper surfaces of the rear fuselage is now clear coated.......hope to have it on it's wheels in the next week or so with delivery planned for Barkstone Warbirds in 2 1/2 weeks time

Retract units are all in....other than a bit more work on the main gear doors, we're about done.....

The happy chap in the picture isn't me but Steve who's one of the professional modelers who's been working on this... must have great patience as he applied thousands of extra rivets to this airframe...

Looks good. Shame the undercrackers were not painted.. Also is there not supposed to be anything on the fin as far as markings go? Looks a little bland as it is.
I think some missiles would also make it look allot better

There are loads of extra markings that could be applied but the costs involved a line had to drawn.

This has been a project that has been on the back burner but its finally time to get it out to its new owner before my full time job ramps up for the summer leaving very little time for models. I still have my A4 and perhaps something a bit different to play with over the summer months though
I've had some help along the way....Phil & Steve from 'Fighteraces' have done a great job on the paint and Gary has helped with the initial install adding internal paint, all the air-rams and servos which has left me with the final installation.

I'm pleased with the models general appearance and glad I got Phil to make up the probe as it adds real character. My main concern is that when I look at it I don't get any sense that its finished, its difficult to explain but I feel that there's something missing. I have a few ideas which will involve repainting a portion(s) of the model but I think it will complete it, adding missiles and painting the gear will be my first jobs to alleviate the emptiness I feel.

Ive made a start on the extra painted details... The chequers were fun to do

Ive added a subtle weathering here and there and painted the linkages etc... I'm waiting on a few stencils to finish it off plus a few more passes with the airbrush on the weathering front and it should be ready for delivery next week.

Finished with the light weathering Ali requested... the photos don't show it very well even with a fast lens.... as I said previously its subtle.

The installation is nearly there, I need to make the aft tray for a UAT and install the tanks then its a trip to MK. I'll hopefully get a chance for a few out-door shots in the next few days.

Cheers, Alex

Thanks

A few pictures of the finished model outside in the rain before being packed for delivery... and my 2 year old checking the structural integrity of the fin

I'll try and get some photos of it flying at some point...

Cheers, Alex

Too many models and not enough time is the simple reason. The F5 hangs in the jet centre and I often look at it and think that I must drop a turbine in and get it flying, but then along comes another new toy that needs work, setting up and flying. Or part of the current fleet needs working on. I am sure I will get round to it one day. It's too good looking a jet not to.
Regards Al

Hi Ali,

Had my eye on the prestige collection F5 page for some time now and was thinking of pulling the trigger, however i had a chance to see one of these SM f5s in the flesh and did not like the quality at all...too heavy for my liking..

Followed the build thread, the scale work incorporated is unbeleivable, however the carcass underneath is stll SM unfortunatelly, cant wait to see it in the air..

Luke
