I asked Wren at jetpower if the wren 100 was going to be kerostart, the reply i got was ''why would i want kerostart?''
With the greatest of respect and having bought three wren engines, I think they need to supply what the customer wants, and accept kerostart is not a fad, not try to convince the customer to buy what they believe we should be operating.

All Wren engines are now supplied also with kerostart.

I put my name on the pre-order list. JetCat USA said they did not think they were likely to have it in-stock before September, but that was only a best guess and it could be earlier.

RE: JETCAT P100
Just an update on this.
Back orders are really mounting up, so I thought it might be a good time to check in with Cat and see what the latest news is. Please do not take this as me giving a firm date ( I hate to let people down, and this is information direct from Jet Cat Germany). But I have been told that they hope to start deliveries in July.
I have a back order of 12 pieces on my first order, and only two left open ( And thats without me or any of my friends having any) , so those wanting to get one when they are released need to be quick.
regards Al

I don't fly JetCat so I guess I haven't followed the development and history of this engine ( P-100 ). But why would ANY company produce a product, demo it in the market and then not have it available for immediate release and sale. Doen't make much sense to me... I t seems to me it would hurt sales, confidence, and reputation as a whole for the company...
Just wondering...

Ahh but less weight - makes a big difference ;-)
marcs
22.6 Lb is not that much as compared with the P-80 22 lb.
marcs
Maybe 1 or 2 Lb. more? I mean, 22,6 lbs with one or more lb less of weigth will be equivalent lets say to 24 lbs of thrust if the weight were 1 or 2 lb more?
My question is because I would like to replace my P-80 in my Skymaster F-16 1/8 for the P-100.

RE: JETCAT P100
The installed weight difference will be a little bit more than that as the quoted P100 weight includes the solenoids (which are internal) whereas the P80 quoted weight doesn't include them. Also bear in mind the P100 uses the lighter V10 ECU. Not a lot of difference I admit but every little counts!!

If you think this true then you probably don't pay much attention to what goes on in this hobby because all of the companies do this. JR did it when they introduced the 12X at Toledo; was the radio available yet, no way? Futaba has introduced the new 18 channel radio, but can you buy it right now?
There are new LED light bulbs (replacing incandescent) being introduced to be used in homes that are being shown in the market; these will probably not be available for a year or more according to what I have read recently. These are large companies like Phillips using this practice. This is a very common marketing strategy.
It obviously doesn't hurt Jetcat sales since Ali has 12 of them on back order and guys are choosing to wait instead of buying something else.
Jets is a very small sector of our hobby. I have been flying turbine jets for 12 years and I have learned that patience is mandatory if you wish to remain in the jets end of this hobby. People without patience generally move on very quickly. It is not for everybody.

I do pay attention what goes on in this hobby.. I am in the Hobby business. I agree with what you are saying and JR 12x is a great example. I somewhat agree with the marketing strategy, and yes it does happen in all indudtries. But i don't think it's wise to announce a product until it's proven and ready. The end retail customer should not be involved in R&D for any product.

If you have been the hobby buisness for long then you will remember the Hirobo Shuttle and other early Helicoptors, all the R & D was done by the customer, I have never seen so many upgrades and alterations to a product just after they had come to the market than the early Helio's, still it was fun.

So in absolute numbers, maybe the weight difference is close to 1 Lb?.
Is this rquivalent to say that in vertical climb, thos turbine has 1 lb more of real thrust than the P-80? 22,6 + 1lb (reduced in total weight)= 23,6 lb?
And in level flight, it will be more.......?
