Schubeler Hawk for P-20 turbine

1 Attachment(s)
Another of my growing airforce of P-20 models just arrived this AM, these kits are so popular there is a several months waiting list. We have more coming for customers doing the same thing.
The mouldings are super light and the wing features gear doors, live hinged Flaps and ailerons. Although it looks bigger, its actually the same fuselage length as the Habu 32. I'm going to use Electric retracts when I get time for the build. I have a Cougar< Eurofighter and Mig 15 before then!

Very nice! Please weigh all parts, always good too know the empty weight of the airframe :-) Do you think it will ballance with the motor mounted in the back?

I just decided I will put togeather a Savex L39 for my turbine, will try to mount it in the tail to make room for a fueltank at CG. (might use the in wing tank too)

The fuselage and wing weighs 942 gram, too busy at the moment to even fully unpack it! It is light. I never want the turbine in the back, I like the hot gas to travel down a tube first...

Is the Mig also for the P20 or a larger one

Hello Dave:

I also have the Hawk and have started gathering parts for the build. The electric retract sound like a good idea: possibly a weight saving idea.. I did purchase the semi scale mechanical retracts.
I did weight all componets to be 7.8 lbs dry. I have a new L-39 in the swiss colors with w/wing tank option as well. Looking forward to your build thread

Best Regards
John

Dave,
I have a P-20 powered Tams F-16 with 52 flights and it is a very sweet combo. Recently i have been looking for other suitable scale airframes for the P-20 and dont see many choices out there yet. For some reason i dont like the Hawk (in any size) but i would really like to see maybe Horizon follow up their Habu 32 with some scale offerings for EDF or P-20.I have recently converted a RC Lander T-33 (all foam) but have not been able to test fly it due to a recall on all the defective elec retracs. An all foam jet is not really my idea for a P-20 airframe but for right now this jet has good size and should work on turbine power.Longevity is another matter...

Larger.

I figured less that that with the electric retracts and my turbine set up. We will see.

Vince...Just wait a little while and you will be happy soon ;)

I have a P-20 powered Hobbyking's L59 with 32 flights and it is a very sweet combo!
This jet has good size and it's not heavy.Including fuel 750ml,the weight is at 4 kilos.
I really enjoy this plane....

Hello

I have the same L59 with a P20 in it and am having trouble with the nose wheel. I wonder if you could tell me what retract you have in the nose.

Also the model is quite light on the nose wheel even after adjusting the cg

As Dave said, the fuselage lenght is like Habu 32.
The Habu has a lenght of 1200mm and wingspan 1000mm.
The L59 has wingspan 1200mm and fuselage length 1323mm.It's a big difference.
If you notice, i said total weight is 4 kilos including the fuel 750ml.So without fuel is 3250.Is very light for the dimensions and considering
the hardware has on it..retracts ,struts, two batteries Flightpower 2100,UAT 60ml etc.
So you are telling me that the total weight of the Hawk will be 2250?Seems hard to believe.

I'm pretty sure it was 2800grams fueld up. As you can see it takes of in a very short distance and goes straight up.

Henke, maybe it is, but you must have in mind that is quite smaller.
13 cm more on lenght and 10 cm on wingspan is a big difference.
I beleive i kept the weight very low on my L59 for the size of it and consider that it has 200gr on the nose for balancing!!http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f...bout_smile.gif
The L59 has a very heavy tail that's why i add these 200gr on nose..
If i don't take in mind these 200gr then the plane weight is 3 kgrempty..

This is my CMP T-45 with a Jetjoe Junior turbine. 1140 mm wingspan and 1220 mm lenght.
Electric retract, flaps and double receiver battery, the wheight is 2.800 g dry, and 3.200 g. ith 500 ml of kero. It flies very well, and would be perfect for a P-20

Maiden and second flight.

The CMP Hawk was one of my first projects...but never flew..even now i don't know what went wrong...

Maybe it was too much tail heavy and i didn't pay attention...did you balance it ,exactly where the manufacturer gives the CG?

DId you put weight on the nose?

Tam had/has one of these and I stared at it quite a lot! Perfect size, shape, and finish on that one. TJ80 though.

No, the point that is indicated on the wing as CG is at 150 mm from the LE. This is wrong, the correct one is between 105-115 mm. Mine is at 110mm. For sure this was your problem..
