I will be popping out a fuselodge here pretty quick. Thomas and I will set it up with some 90's. This size A-10 is very versatile . Large option of fan sizes to choose from. 110's are the ideal though.

Hey Sam. No problem. Glad your A-10 is coming along.These tires were a test for me. First tires I have made. They are solid and a bit on the heavy side but the next ones will be foam core. Sorry, have not figured a price on them yet. These are one offs and will be cheaper for me once I buy them in bulk.

im planning Jetfan 90's on 10S. Chris and I suspect this thing ti be around 22-25lbs or so RTF, so 10S will give about 18-20lbs of thrust. But, if the rumor of the 100-110mm Jetfan is true, ill throw a pair of those on 8S in.

Yeah, I was looking at the 10S on HET 700-68.

If your already leaning more towards the 90's, I would lean a little more that way, lol. It could be possible to get it down to 20 lbs with the 90's as i've done it before with my old kit. This kit is slightly bigger but its all in the layup and power system combo. I am usually a little overkill on my layups as I like durability but layup would be a bit different if you were to use those p60's over the 90's plus you would have a very heavy plane. When I set it up for the 90's I did lighter layup and structure.

Here is the brake system I have been messing with. Not sure at this time how good it will work. Its a mechanical brake I designed. This is just a cheesy prototype I machined out.

While your talking weights!!!!!!! Just as a comparison between Chris's first original kit, it is the same size as my Wowplanes foam Hog BUT my plane is flying with twin HET 90's on ARC 36-75-1 and twin 7s 5000 packs and it flies great at 20lbs. Going with his newer version on twin 110 or 100 fans on 10s seems like a slight performance gain and slightly more wing area which will handle the extra weight very well. This is a high lift airfoil which helps a lot and mine is just a flat bottom 12ish % airfoil. If I had the higher lift wing, I wont sweat the weight at all.
So my two cents would be for a light setup, twin JetFan or the newer Wemo EVo fans on 8-10 s or as noted above, the 100mm JetFans if they materialize would be a great.

Thanks Chris on the wheel info, fully understand and for a initial trial mold, they look great! I ended up installing the foam inserts in my Robarts to handle the weight. Being solid, I bet they are heavy!!!!

Thanks Sam. No problem. Ya, there about as heavy as the ones Tam had that we used on the A-10 before. Very solid though, lol. When we were using the heavier 5 inch fan setup the robarts would shred off the rims after about 5 flights. Never put the foam inserts in them though. Im sure that would have helped a bit. These tires will be better and scale compared to the robarts. I always hated trying to find decent tires for this kit. Easy fix, make my own. Im just a little picky that way.

I like the brake design, seems very simple.

Not all the pieces are there, but yes , very simple.

Pulled the first front fuse half after spending a week cleaning both front mold halves. Back sections released excellent off the plug but for some strange reason the front had an issue. I was not a happy camper.

I purchased a kit form you in early 2010. So this would be version 1 base don this new thread. Anyway, I had to put that build on hold for some time, and now getting back to it. Problem is I can not for the life of me remember what sized EDF size would fit it. At the time you were making custom inlets right? What measurement location can I take to determine the proper ducted unit?

I guess second question would be what is the preferred combo to put in this model? TJ110, StuMax, or others? Kinda need a refresher on this. I re-read the old thread, but not much was mentioned on who used what and what worked best. Since these can easily become 2k work of motor setups I was hoping to take out the guess work a little. The ducting, Is this needed?

I also, have the original robart style gear and some wheels that are cheap. Looks Like Tam has a new setup. I need to iron this out as well. Are there electric gear available ?

I only made 2 different inlets. One for the 5" fans and for 110mm fans. Tam supplied the inlets for the TJ100's if you ordered those fans from him. Most of the kits I had made were set up for 110's so im assuming it would be a 110mm. Just measure the back of the inlet opening and if its approx. 110mm then thats the fan to get. A lot of people were setting them up with the stumax 110. You will need ducting. I will have some electric gear for the new version that should fit in the old version. I am getting ready to 3d print the prototype scale gear pretty quick.

Thanks for getting back to me on this. Is there some links to builds that I can review of the Old version build from you or others? I can figure out most of it on my own but, need examples on engine placement and mounting. Also, examples on making and installing the thrust tubes. I seem to recall a special setup for the rudder servos and incidence on the elevator stab (Which I had done I think) as well. Then a few details on pylon installs, gear doors, and the 20mm cannon.

Sorry for all the questions, just trying to get back up to speed. I know you were going to have a cockpit and ordnance for the version I have. Did that come about or is all that you have on the website for the new version? I had bought the pylons as that was all you offered at the time.

The website only has the old version items. I do not have any cockpit kits left. I had to get rid of my vacuum form machine when I left California because I did not have room to bring it. I made extra pieces before I left but all out now. The new version will only have one vacuum formed piece so I have decided to outsource it. The new version cockpit will be better and im sure can be modified to fit. Im going to glass the tub on these so it will be a stronger piece.

I need either a template of the former or the former it's self that fits in the middle of the retract assembly on Version 1 of this plane. I seemed to have lost mine in a few moves since I bought this in 2010.

Sorry guys. I have been so busy but still plucking away bit by bit. Its so close. I wanted to make some very nice scale gear and it has been one of the most time consuming things on this project as far as design and scale looks go. Here are some of the components powder coated.
