RCU Forums - John Glenn Korean war photos.

Hi Guys,
I am just about to order a pilot for my 1/5 scale FEJ Sabre. The colour scheme I have gone for is Mig Mad Marine, John Glenn's bird. I can choose the attire of the pilot, so I would like it to look as much like John Glenn would have looked in Korea. I know he was a Marine pilot but apparently he was on an interservice exchange scheme and flew Sabres with the USAF.
Wha tI am looking for is any photos from the period, and also any squadron insignia he may have worn. Anyone out there got anything please?
BTW, as a counter to all the flaming that FEJ gets, this Sabre has been the most straightforward build of any ARTF jet ever. There have been very few isues and I know the model flies well as there are two in my club.
It is not a perfect scale model but the outline is pretty accurate. The flaps don't really depress as far as I would like but probably enough. The airbrakes come out rather too straight rather than angled down, but again it doesn't seem to effect the models flight performance and handling. The paint is way too shiny and I will flat this back at some point after the test flights.
The intake trunk is an annouyance. It basically take a straight line from the intake to the engine, leaving no space for a scale cockpit. This may get attacked woith a razor saw and repositoned but any semblence of the fully ducted arrangement FEJ intended is gone.
Overall I am very pleased with the model and it is coming in under 20kgs. (20kgs is the limit here in the UK above which you need a special "licence").
