F-86 Kits for 12-14 lb turbine.
I have been looking for a F-86 kit for a 12-14 lb thrust turbine.
BVM has one, as does modelbau. Are there any other kits in this size worth looking at? Semi-scale/ built up construction is fine. Not looking to spend $$$ or win top gun....just a nice flying jet. Thanks, -Dave |

Trim used to make a nice one...if you can find one someplace.

Jet Hangar Hobbies has a basic kit fiberglass fuse foam wing. Global Jet Club I think carries the ARF version of it.

I like the JHH F-86, but was a bit worried it might be small for a P-60...It weighs 1lb more than the MW-44...
Anybody flown a JHH F-86 w/ a P-60 or similar turbine? -Dave |

Hi,
The JHH is a great flying jet, but yes, a little small for a P-60. Perfect for a 44. Steer clear of the Modellbau. |

I agree 100% with you Greg the Modellbau Sabre is awesome I have two of them one for me and my son and they fly great. I lands so easy and is very inexpensive. Mine I had the stuff fir but for my sons Henry sold me a package with turbine and electronics and gear for $2900 out the door. It's a great buy for the money.

Hi,
To each his own, I suppose. If you're happy with your plane, then that's all that matters, right? I advised him to steer clear because I personally found the MB one to be of very poor quality when I had one. I opened the box, inspected it, then put it up for sale at a considerable loss that same day. |

I agree with Yellow on the MB F-86. I had one for five flights and did not like the way it flew at all. I didn't feel it handle grass fields well either. It was hell to build and after five flights I ripped everything out of it and sold what I could. I lost my ***** on it to. The Tornado from MB seems to fly much better. Just my two sents

There's no reason you couldn't dial back the thrust on the P-60 for the JHH F-86. It's a great flying little airplane.

Keep an eye out for partially completed or second hand NIB models.
A guy in my club started a conversion of a BVM IC ducted fan Sabre to turbine but gave up on it. Got it for a bargain price, now finished & flown with a P-60. John. |

Another option seems to be the "laser kit cutters"...guys who cut built up kits in short runs.
Anybody have any leads of any good people/plans? Ziroli seems to have some nice planes, but not a saber in my size. Thanks, -Dave |
