RE: FEJ Giant Hawk 1:3.5 Scale

I can't wait to see this hawk with the original landing gear already mount , I hate to see the hawk close to the ground with short leg , for that I love the skygate hawk , big airplane and big landing gear , but the price for the skygate is way out of my budget , now the fej hawk is just right in my list and hoping to see it with the original landing gear very soon.

And Also $200 will get you pre-installed 5 port air line connectors so you simply need to put the wing on to the fuse and the airline connections are done:D

suggested retail is $5995.00 plus $295.00 for the fitted lights. Add to that the shipping which I am sure your FEJ dealer will be able to assist with
Regards Al
What will that be in £ Sterling I wonder. Not £5995 I hope http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f.../sad_smile.gif

It will be that amount. Converted to dollars and then add the VAT and import duty.

Disapointing old world where in effect pounds = Dollars

Taxes are taxes.. Gotta love the HMR&C. I know people can and do import them direct and take the risk with getting stung, but as a business I have no choice but to add on whats charged to us.

This is a pic of a 1/4 scale Hawk wheel. FEJ is 1/3.5 or 1/3.8? Need to make gear a little bigger!

pic of strut.
looks like FEJ struts are kinda short too. Pics are from 1/4 scale Hawk.
One of my biggest complaints has always been that the gear look too small on many of their aircraft. F16, Hawk, etc.

I think the test flight video jet is not the final product, I think they just threw some gear in it for flight testing.

In Post #40 Ali mentions that the gear used was from their smaller Hawk and was only used to get the flights in to prove out the design.

Im just saying people have started to to sharp shoot on here and the gulf stream thread on test models. Knowing FEJ as well as I do the finished product will be pretty close to whats expected. Just a thought not bashing or anything

RE: FEJ Giant Hawk 1:3.5 Scale

I guess some dont pay much attention around here or reads details. The pic that was posted by Ali is the FEJ, XL, 1/3.5 or 1/3.8 size Hawk gear. It is also on the website. I posted a pic of some Skygate 1/4 scale Hawk gear that shows FEJ gear is still shorter and smaller than a 1/4 scale set of Hawk gear. I hate short and small gear. I stare at 1/4 scale and 1/3.5 scale Hawk gear all day. My 1/3.5 Hawk gear are even bigger!!
Yes the test flight was done with a small set of gear, but its not the one pictured.
This isnt sharp shooting. Point things out now and they get fixed sooner. They do seem to be a company that listens and correct things fairly quickly these days. I think some of the remarks on the Gulfstream ended being incorrect, but bringing them up and hashing them out is what forums are for.
The big F16 still looks like it sits too low and gear are a bit small but its getting better. I probably would have bought one by now if it had not been for some things like the gear. I did own a FEJ F86 and it had the same problem. Hated it.

There isn't a single F-16 out there with scale size wheel, period!

RE: FEJ Giant Hawk 1:3.5 Scale

Scott, FEJ did listen and does have a larger gear set for the big F16. We had it at BITW. It is much larger than the last one. I think Ali has it on his.

RE: FEJ Giant Hawk 1:3.5 Scale

Thanks for the feedback Scott. I am with you all the way, and know what you are trying to achieve. I am talking with the factory multiple times each day and trying to work through as many of these minor discrepancies as possible. Changing the wheel size on the Giant hawk involves all new wheel wells and gear doors. Thats not to say that it wont be done... we are just discussing it right now.
FYI. It was feedback like yours that saw a totally new U/C system being designed and built for the Giant F-16. My set is just going into mine as we speak. Its a total redesign with thicker struts, beefier mounts, larger air cylinders and best of all.... new much larger tires. I will ask my builder to take a photo of the two gear next to each other and you can see the difference. All the feedback is very welcome. I have found that none of the negatives I have fed back to the factory thus far have been taken with offence, none of then have been ignored. We have talked through each and every one. It's just some are more "do-able" than others.
Out of curiosity... Does anyone have the nose wheel diameter and width of a large hawk.. Not the TH one [;)
Regards Al

RE: FEJ Giant Hawk 1:3.5 Scale

I really didnt intend for it to be negative as some suggested. I think we all want scale models to as accurate as possible. Seems they really want to improve and aren't scared to do the extra work.
I look forward to seeing the new F16 gear. Having owned several Scale-jets.com F16's made it really hard to ever pull the trigger on a FEJ one, but after watching you fly one at BITW I got really close!
That F16 nose door so close to the ground.
I have the Skygate complete gear here and will measure the nose wheel.

I wouldn't say you are doing anything wrong corndog2, but with 26 new models in 2012 for myself and 6 turnkey builds for customers, a full time job and a young family.... I wouldn't be able to do what I do without the help of some very skilled builders and painters.

RE: FEJ Giant Hawk 1:3.5 Scale

Hey Scott.
No worries. Both the factory and I know you meant your posts in a constructive way. The fact you went to all the trouble of taking the photos of the TH gear proves that. Thanks again.
You really need to get a set of the new F-16 gear in your hand! It really is superb, and if anyone told you that it came from China a few years ago you would laugh! It's stunning.
As I said in an email to the factory this morning... I have never heard of a sale being lost because a scale jet was too close to the shape of the full size that it was trying to mimic. Where as, I myself have found my interest in certain planes lessening due to the shape being out!
Thanks for the nose wheel measurements.
Regards Al

RE: FEJ Giant Hawk 1:3.5 Scale

As request by Ali, you will notice that the older set of gear has one tyre inflated, not that the new set of tyres are not inflated, this will increase the diameter upto 0.75"
