It has also been mentioned in the T One Micro thread

I think the USA importer is scheduled to receive the first units mid to late July?

I am hoping to get one for a winter build...

Just wondering why this is being marketed as a Xicoy Turbine rather than a Jets Munt?

About Us

The X45 project began as as a Gaspar's personal project in a relaxed way in the Xmas holidays of 2016. Drawings and calculations where done then, and the turbine wheel and stator where drawn at the time and sent to a prototyping company to cast few samples.

In begining of 2017, Xicoy adquired and moved to new premises to have bigger space and posibility to have CNC machines in house. All the setup of the new premises and the move absorbed most of the R+D time, the X45 project keept sleeping. Fall of 2017 and first half of 2018 was spent in to finish the development of the engines JetsMunt M70 and M166, so until summer 2018 no work was done in the X45.

The X45 ran first time in August 2018. During these tests the engine show high potential, exceding the initial design goal. Plans were quickly made to transform the personal project in to a mass produced product.

In the next month work and progressed, a substantial investment was done to manufacture the molds for mass production of castings for the turbine wheel and stator.
A chance opportunity arose where a colleague of many years was looking for a new challenge and was able to join Gaspar to share the workload and assist this development and others to follow. The colleague is Mike Murphy, formally of Wren Turbines. This fertile collaboration has brought two lots of jet engine experience together to pool skills and create some new ideas and projects to bring to the market.

That doesn't answer the question.

I'm sorry, I assumed from the last paragraph that it was just a new company formed with Mike Murphy ...

Don’t over think it

Is this X45 the engine that I heard about at Jetpower a few years ago that was initially based on John Wright's Sprite engine?

No this is
Gaspars design

The specs look really impressive. Compared to the jet cat p20, its the same diameter of 60mm, and its 15mm shorter in length.(180mm vs 165)
The X45 is 400gm vs 362gm of the p20, and at full throttle it uses 140gm vs 90gm/minute

In summary its the same size and weight as the jetcat p20 but produces double the thrust at 10lbs

Its 1550 euro plus VAT so its significantly cheaper too.

BarracudaHockey 05-29-2019 03:49 AM

All with a 25 second start time.

I'm going to be watching this one

alasdair 05-31-2019 12:00 PM

Is there a distributor in the UK?
Or must we buy online from Xicoy direct?

raydar 06-01-2019 08:14 AM

Alasdair it is not exactly available yet to the mass as far as I can fathom and the only way to get one in UK the now is to email Xicoy direct and get on the waiting list.

I flew an X45 in my CARF Spark yesterday, and it really is a very impressive package. The X45 provides the spark with unlimited vertical performance. Total ready to fly weight of the aircraft including 1.3L of fuel is 11.1lbs, The X45 has 10lbs of thrust available..

My engine was sent early to provide further real world testing. So far it is so close to perfect that any of the suggested tweaks wont be noticed from an everyday user.

The engine start is extremely smooth, in around 25secs, stability throughout the entire range is rock solid and aceleration is exactly what a modern jet engine should have.
One of the most impressive traits this engine has is its need to only sip fuel with initial flight of 6.5 minutes and only using between 500 and 600ml of fuel.
The X45 also has selectable fuel choice at the press of a button, where suttle changes will be made automatically between Kerosene and Diesel use. The firmware also has
Flexible thrust wich allows user to dial in lower max thrust levels if required.

This engine is going to turn the small jet market on its ear, Ive already got a number of engines pre-sold which will make their way into Eflite Habu32's and 32X's currently flying with P20's, its probably safe to say that we are about to see a resurgence of Habu kit sales.

That's great news.

Same here I bunch of folks here in the US on a waiting list as well. Year of the mini jets’

alasdair 06-06-2019 01:59 AM

Years ago I remember someone did a drawing (or was it a photo?) comparing all the small turbines from the Kolibri, JetCat P-20, Sprite, M35, up to the Wren 44.
Has it been updated to include this new X45? and if so can anyone post a copy for reference?

That may have been Henke. He posts over on RCG and here
I believe the 2nd picture in this thread is the one you're referring to?

This photo is a good representation of past vs present, approximately the same thrust. JPX240 vs Xicoy X45

BarracudaHockey 06-06-2019 04:54 AM
