Has anyone used the Aeroshell smoke oil? According to them, it is good for rc applications.

what are you using now.

why_fly_high 07-12-2019 01:27 PM

1 quart baby oil and 1 gallon of diesel. 80-90% as good as smoke oil and 25% the cost.

CARS II 07-12-2019 01:34 PM

Thanks for the video, I will consider it.

AEROSHELDON 07-12-2019 03:36 PM

report back..... :)

CARS II 07-12-2019 03:51 PM

I will, since the KC has 60 oz of capacity for smoke then this will be a good solution to have it at any time for a reasonable price.

I've been using 1 gallon of mineral oil from the feed store to one gallon diesel... Works great

causeitflies 07-15-2019 03:12 PM

I found a case of the Bennett's Best in the garage. It's probably fifteenth or twenty years old and cost about $8 a gallon back then. I put a half of a tank in my T-One which has a cheap pump out my foamie Super Viper and no hopper to see if it was still good.

Have you tried this yet? How did it work?

Thanks!

CARS II 08-26-2019 07:32 PM

Not yet, will do that in 3 to 4 weeks.

Here is your answer.

Checking the density of the smoke, a mix of 1 gallon of Diesel + 1 qrt of mineral oil, $8.00 per gallon.

I may have to increase the pumps speed, it is at its slowest rpms.

I used this oil from the Wally store.

CARS II 09-16-2019 06:29 PM

I think I will be using this mix from now on, specially because the ingredients are easy to get locally.

A big thanks to Why fly high and desertlakesflying for the tip.

T3chDad 09-17-2019 05:12 AM

Thank you so much. Looks great to me!

CARS II 09-17-2019 08:52 AM

Agreed. Add a tiny bit of algiecide to the can to prevent its growth.

CARS II 09-17-2019 07:36 PM

Here is my Boomerang XL having a taste of the new smoke cocktail :)

I also tested it during a flight, it looks as thick as the super dry fluid, no diferinces that I could see, I wish one of the guys watching the flight had filmed it, but they were too busy watching the jet fly

That's why I did the vid on the ground, see the column of smoke floating away.

I'm Terran :)

Cars II, which pump are you using?

ravill 09-18-2019 01:14 PM

I will take some vids tomorrow!

CARS II 09-18-2019 04:27 PM

Rick, the pump in my Boomer is a TamJets pump, around 12 years old, the pump in the KingCat is also a TamJets pump also around 12 to 15 years old.
