The 330 mm. (or 13 inches) shown in the manual works very well.

Where have you located the batterys???
And do you have any fotos of the inside of the plane

RE: Bob Cat Copy Falcon 120 Jet

The plane is naturally nose heavy. When installing your engine and equipment try to shift weight to the rear. I have my fuel pump mounted in the rear of the fuselage. The only thing in the nose is my air tank. Both my ECU and receiver batteries are mounted beside the front wheel well to the balance the plane. Some of the guys needed to install their batteries near the wing tube for balance.

i have to put the battery`s all the way in the back, and still nead 240gr in the tale[&o] . I think its the ProLink legs and the valves in the front that are making the problems so i wil try to cange the org prolink (100gr) wheel with a fome wheel at only 18gr.

What is the total weight of your Falcon. Mine is aprox 7.5kg with a 14 LBS Turbine.

My first Falcon weighed about 14.5 lbs. (approximately 6 kg.) with a Wren Supersport engine. It was pretty much in original configuration with Spring Air retracts and wire struts. I am now working on my second one which will be reinforced, repainted, recovered with Monokote, with heavier retracts and Prolink struts. I expect it to weigh about 7 kg.

Here are a few pictures of the installation in my first one. If you look back in this thread to about pages 22 - 25 there are detailed pictures of how I did the modifications.

I used MPI aluminum wheels, foam tires ( 21grams). I think changing the nose wheel will help you. I have these on the mains as well with Tam brakes. Have never lost a tire. My weight 13.8 with a full UAT . Two of my batteries are just forward of the engine mount deck and the other battery is in the rear acces hole just in front of the wing tube. MY fuel tank is further aft than most and still had to have the batts in the rear for balance.

This is my Mount of wheels and el comonents.
What kind of battery pack do you use. I tryed with a 7.3V 4500mah NiMi but it was to big to get in the rear[sm=cry_smile.gif]

Matt

Did something happen to it so that it needed a rebuild and re-spray or was it just something to do over the winter.

I will be at Bickley on the 28th for the GBRCAA day and will bring a canopy with me for you to look at as promised.

Who is Matt?

Some damage was sustained after an 'arrival'! Nothing major but it needed stripping and repairing so the opportunity was taken to give it a new look.

see you at Bickley

Questions... Sorry, lots of info on these pages. I got a good number but couldn't find the answers.

For a prop pusher, would the 160 be the best size? What kind of speed can I expect w/ this engine?

Most recommended retracts?

Once ready for a turbine ($$$) what would be the best turbine to get to replace the 160?

Thanks a lot guys for your help.

I've had to add twelve ounces of weight to the tail to balance mine. I have three batteries next to my UAT under the canopy just ahead of the wing tube with airpower retracts. Dry weight is 15 pounds. So should be fine.

I am starting to experience some gear retraction issues that I wonder if someone might have some ideas about. I am using the Airpower 250 retracts, Pro-lynx struts and an Airpower EV-2U eletronic valve for operation.
On the ground, all three gear operate normally up and down and even work with about 40psi. I charge to about 100 psi for flight. After takeoff, the nose and left main retract instantly when I hit the switch. The right main will stay down as along as 3-4 seconds and then it retracts. This has been occuring for sometime now but has never failed to go up. Sunday, after takeoff, the right main would not retract. I cycled the gear several times an the right main would not move even inverted and at slow airspeeds. After the flight, with only 40psi remaining after all the inflight cycles, the right main retracted normally in the pit area when tested. I charged to 120psi and flew again. The right main retracted, but again, with a delay.
Anybody have anyone ideas?

Thanks,
Cody

Hi Grodus
Iam running Airpower 250 retracts and had the same sort of problem which ended up the retract unit was getting slightly warped when the screws holding it in the wing were tightend up and making that retract stiffer to move .[8D]

Hi new2jets, three falcons look great and the inflight picture is excellent. The weather looks remarkably like the glorious wether we have down here. Where abouts do you fly, any chance of meeting up with you fellow falconers for a fly at some time, cheers Tim
